1. Done :-) Hope it helps.
 2. I will send you a pm Debbie Lawrence.
 3. Unusual to have to pay 6 months in advance and luckily fully furnished rentals are easier to find in the UK than here.Have a safe journey!
 4. The age limit has gone up now but may still not help.If you apply for another before this one runs out you will be on a bridging visa so may only need to do it quite close to the end of the existing visa.
 5. Yes bizarrely the community centre has the library in it so it is that centre yes.May be see you Sunday? :-)
 6. Hi yes the Point Cook residents BBQ is at the Coastal park this Sunday 16th Feb at 11am-5pm.Bring whatever you would like to eat and drink and maybe something to share. The Lions club are providing some food too.It is at the Beach and BBQ park of the park all welcome and should be fun.Why not pop along:-)
 7. No worries at all send me a Pm when you arrive and I am sure we can meet up.There is a residents BBQ in Feb happening which would be a great opportunity to meet new people then.
 8. That's the advantage of having differing views. I find new estates make more of an effort to meet people.I love the position of Point Cook.I travel into Melbourne easily out of rush hour in under half and hour and an hour to the surfing beaches. There is a brand new rail station at Williams Landing and new additional bus routes added if people want to head to Melbourne or Geelong. The third biggest groups in Point Cook at the last census were older and younger families and then Seniors. However I love it thats why I live here. others love else where and thats why they live there. Was really wondering the reason why I posted yesterday where they selected in the end :-)
 9. There is a Social Butterflies group that meets once a month on a Fri or Sat and has social events. We have been to the polo, dinners etc. That is for ladies only. There is also Ladies that Lunch on a Friday at 12 in local restaurants we meet though only in term time. There are lots of interest groups run by the Point Cook Community centre for a variety of topics. Do you have an interest like gardening,Getting fit?,Walking pram groups there are loads going on. If you PM me I can give you contact details if any of these interest you.
 10. Where did you settle on in the end?:-) I live in Point Cook Sanctuary Lakes and love it :-)
 11. Hello I live with my family in the Point Cook area and find that it is a very friendly area.We moved here just over two years ago. I think it is easier though when your children are at school.Do you both work full time? There are many social events planned in the area for families. We are a little older in our 40's but have plenty of friends your age.Are you members of the many local clubs and groups? Lots to choose from:-)
 12. Just found these Statistics on the Victoria site with Point Cook coming top as a more desirable place to live than Williamstown,Altona etc.Williamstown figure was 1061.6:daydreaming:

Heathdale 874.6

Manorvale 939.0

Woodville 954.8

Mossfiel 965.8

Western Region 986.1

Werribee Central 990.9

The Grange 995.0

Riverdene 996.1

Bellbridge 997.4

Australia 1,002.0

Wyndham Vale 1,002.1

Racecourse 1,004.2

Victoria 1,009.6

Cambridge 1,012.5

Werribee South 1,013.2

City of Wyndham 1,013.4

Truganina 1,016.6

Greater Melbourne 1,020.3

Little River 1,025.5

Tarneit 1,035.1

Kingston 1,052.9

Point Cook 1,092.8

13. I agree Point Cook is a great place to live and often find detractors haven't never lived here.Schools are zoned and if you are going to a state school you don't need to put your name down now. They are though zoned. It has a great community feel in the area and the facilities are getting better all the time.
 14. I am thinking positive now. However I think a lot of tradies start quite early here and finish early. Some of my friends hubbies work a 5-2 which enables them to do lots in the afternoons and evenings so they are quite happy. I do appreciate though that isn't going to be everyone.!!!
 15. Good luck. Use all the resources available.I would say it rarely feels clinical over here as people buy land and then build generally. Not like in the UK when lots of houses are the same in the road or estate. Rarely do ones look like each other. Wyndham I believe is the fastest growing area in Australia at the moment. I think you just need to be honest what you are looking for and then find it :-) i have never lived in an area where i could walk everywhere. A car has always been key whether in the UK or Australia. I don't find newer estates soulless but you need to look for the right one. I always think easier and cheaper to maintain. That maybe though because my husband and I aren't really into DIY.
 16. Have a look at Sandhurst which is a sister estate of Sanctuary lakes which is in the East. Similar concept golf, gym etc and you may find nearer. I have some friends who live there that commute to around where you said. Good Luck!
 17. Sorry maybe I wasn't clear what I was meaning I live in Sanctuary lakes in Point Cook in Victoria a new surburb with great community groups so we have lunch today and tonight it is close enough to travel about 25 mins to see the fireworks in Docklands in the CBD. I think we have the best of both worlds.
 18. I am quite surprised that so many people are unhappy in the suburbs. I live in SL and think it is a modern surburb. I have to say though I think the community spirit here is great. Lots of fb pages of different groups arranging outings and meet ups. Asking questions about things and generally being a support. I think you are right though that bigger and shinner isn't always better and that you have to know what facilities are important to you. I have never met so many new people or been invited to as many social events. Tomorrow Friday that's a ladies that lunch day and then fireworks with friends in docklands in the evening. :-)
 19. It depends what you want and are looking for. There is nothing we don't have that I want other than the road works to be finished. Schools great for us. High school lined up. Pool and gym in SL. Great library, shops. Is there something missing for you Petkula?
 20. We prefer point cook sanctuary lakes. Great for families.
 21. We live in Sanctuary lakes by Husband works in the city. Usually leaves about 6.15-6.3o and takes 45 mins. If he leaves 6.45 onwards traffic starts to build. However leave after 8.30 and back to 45 mins. Unless it is an RDO for tradies then you can almost leave anytime and it takes 45mins. We have travelled longer in the Uk Something to be aware of but didn't put us off. Just renewed our lease. Sanctuary lakes and point cook on location location tonight. :-)
 22. Hi we live in Sanctuary lakes and love it. The commute is congested in rush hour and roads are improving slowly. Outside rush hour takes 25 mins into CBD.Getting better transport links is the downside. For schools look on victoria's education website. Lots of primary and less secondary schools. Bit of snobbery goes on East versus West but we love it.
