  1. Hello all, Well, we have been in Melbourne for six weeks, I start my job in 15days time. Yeh. But with a yeh comes a mmmm, schools and area!!! We have four kids, 15/13/6/3, so looking for a government school really but know ideas where! We are currently in a holiday let on the mornington but really this is too far away for when I start my job as the area I have been given is from Elwood through to Geelong. so the middle is Point cook/Sancutary lakes. However people are giving me mixed views on areas, we have considered Keysborough but people have said DON'T! What's is point cook area like for a British family to arrive in? Are there any mums who don't work who live there or any other areas? Asking this question due to my wife. Help!!!
  2. Hi All, Happy new year to you all. Well this no doubt has been asked before but lets see. How many are ping pong poms? this is the Australian term for a brit who moves to Oz then back to the UK and then back to Oz, so on and so fourth. So questions are as follows: Are you a PPM (ping pong pom) Where are you now? Are you happy where you are? Do you think of returning to either Oz or the UK? Do you have kids? Are you married? Ok, so a little about us! When we go to oz its like putting on your slippers and getting home, however so is the UK. both have there positives and negatives and really they balance out each other overall, one is warmer and the other colder, one has no real dangerous animals the other is the capital of dangerous animals. Both have idiots living in them! and unemployment, graffiti etc etc. I am hoping to plunge "back" yes back to Oz, it did not work first time round (this was my call). Whats changed you ask! well we returned to the UK and i returned to my old company, with a pay rise and promotion. I have since gone on to assist in a large growth of the company employing staff as it grew and securing more contracts for them with values circa £1.5M. I have what i was looking for 5yrs ago, Great wife/kids/home and Job, however i would give up the large salary and home to have a different and warmer lifestyle to spend walking on the beach at the weekend with my family. To some this may seem mad! to others you may have done the same. Anyway just a little about us! ps my visa runs out this year. Mmmmmm Dreams are dreams for some, for others they pose a challange to become real!
  3. Hi ALL, We have our visa and now thinking about making the move, however we are wondering should we sell the UK home or rent it out and leave it behind as an asset which will then add value later in life with an income monthly or just sell it. So our question is: Has anybody else rented out the UK home? If so, did you still have any mortgage left on it? If you did, did you inform the mortgage company or leave it on current mortgage? And lastly: Did you use an agent? Many thanks in advance and we will no doubt post more questions.
