Parent visa application timelines (143 & 173)
tostar replied to theballies's topic in Family / Partner Visas
Hi, my parents have a 143 that was received by the parent visa centre on 10 May 2017 is this the lodgement date or is the date later in the month when they received the acknowledgement letter the lodgement date? Is immigration currently asking for health checks or was it put on hold during covid times? Anyone have an estimate as to how far away they are from the request letter?- 3,180 replies

Isn't the intention of this forum to help with migration issues? Why does it matter so much who its personally for? does anyone else have any input to the original question?

Hi there, I apologize, please disregard my previous threads as they don't all apply to me or my family. I have asked questions on behalf of friends

Hello, I had a question about including a partner that I am married with on my visa. Although I won't have the certificate of marriage for about 30 days, can I apply without having this?
-
If you dont mind me asking, what evidence did you provide to prove dependency?
-
Thanks Rich, I have contacted an RMA but before proceeding I wanted to clarify the costs. Dependent child is still 24 presently. Are you saying he wouldn't have to pay ~$40000 to be part of the application (first+second installment?)
-
I wasn't aware of that. His present age is 24 and it may be possible to lodge the application prior to his 25th birthday. I will consult with a RMA, is there any other information regarding his dependency I can source from immi?
-
Yes - back and forth between studies at work. Not married. Still living at home with parents, and they pay for his food/transport/living expenses. Tell me about lucky!
-
Thanks, definitely going down the return flight option!
-
Thanks, yes they are over 18. They will be between 25-30 when the application is made, is their any age that is too old to be a dependent child?

I was told its possible to voluntarily withdraw a tourist visa application if an employment opportunity did arise
-
Hi all. Was wondering if a return flight needs to be booked if coming on a tourist visa (subclass 600) with the intentiom to find sponsored work, then change visas. Any input would be appreciated

Hi all, does this estimation of fees sound right? 2 parents and dependent child Base charge $3520 Additional applicants 18/over $1185 (x2) Second instalment $43600 (x3) Total $136,690 Didnt know if 3 second instalments are needed? Thank you!

Thanks for the advice, I'm still in the early stages but am getting a preliminary strategy in place. It will be good to talk to an RMA at some point. Regarding this requirement for the sponsor: "living lawfully in Australia for at least two years before the visa application is lodged" Does it mean 2 years as PR, or on a valid visa?

Hi all, I'm looking to better understand the costs of the contributory parent visa for a parent who is over 65 years old. About them: -There only child lives in Australia and at the time of the application her daughter would have lived her 2 years as a permanent resident -Has not been on any other visa except Visitor visas (subclass 600) My calculation: Application cost $3520 2nd installment on grant $19420 or $43600 -- this is the big question and I'm hoping someone can help. My reference: http://www.immi.gov.au/Help/Pages/fees-charges/visa.aspx

Thank you, do you know anywhere I can confirm this 6 month away period?
-
Hi all, details of a family members visa are below. I had a question about what this means, essentially can they stay 12 months, leave the country and come back for another 12 months and continue to do this until the visa expires? Visa type: visitor subclass 600 Travel document expiry: date was 3 years after grant Stay period: 12 month(s) from the date of each arrival Travel facility: multiple Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply. Yes this could be an option. Which visa are you referring to? And does invest mean stocks, a business, property, or what specifically?

Hi all, I have a general question about the visa options available to my parents who are aged 56. My father works for an Australian company who has an office in Canada - is a transfer an option at his age? He previously owned his own company and sold it for a substantial amount of money, is an investment visa an option? Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be great. Cheers

Anyone have any insight on this?
