1. I'm currently living in the uk at the moment but am returning to Perth in 2014. I have already got my citizenship. I would like to train as a nurse but think this would be best next year when I return to Perth. Does anybody know what qualifications you would need to get onto the course for either a registered nurse or an enrolled nurse, also what's the difference? Instead of waiting around for the next year, I would like to go back to college to help myself to be ale to get n a course in Perth. Any information would be appreciated. I did look on the Edith Cowan Uni website but couldn't really find what I was looking for. Cheers
2. I am a UK citizen and I became an Australian citizen in 2008 but I'm currently living in the uk. I'm wanting to train to become a nurse but we're heading back to Perth next year (sept 2014). would it be possible to go to uni in the uk for a year and then go to uni in Perth to finish off the nursing???? Is there some way I can carry the studying over or not?
3. How long is it taking for a skilled visa to go through and for an employer sponsored visa to go through. We're totally unsure which way to go. Main applicant being a qualified motor mechanic with 15yrs experience, wife and 2 young children. We want to get to Perth asap. Also if we did the process ourselves, do we have to use original documents(where do we get these from) or can we download these off the comp from immi.gov.au. The whole process is so confusing and just to get on the first rung of the ladder with info would help us out loads Thanks.
4. Thanks for the reply, think he is gonna go down the route of a sponsor. When he fills out the application forms and sends his cv off does he also send a covering letter to ask if they'd sponsor him. If and when he gets a job offer what is the 2nd stage he'd have to do? Thanks again.
5. Could somebody please explain to me how do you go about starting the process for an ENS? Do you have to start filling out the forms first or do you have to get a sponsor first? If this is the case do you just have to send your CV off to the companies in Australia. My friend is wanting to emigrate to Perth. He's a car mechanic with over 13yrs experience. Also if he does get a sponsor how would his wife and children go over, is it a totally different visa for them? Sorry for all the questions, no idea whatsoever about sponsorship.
6. Thanks so much for you replies, i think i will get him to enquire about sponsorship. If he did want to go down the route of sponsorship, would he get his flights and shipping and a certain amount of accomodation in with the sponsor or does he have to pay for all that himself? On the other hand if he chose to go with his time served am i saying whats right that he would still have to go on a skilled visa? sorry i'm just getting a little bit confused as to how he goes about the 'time served' part. Thanks again though.
7. Hi, we have a friends who is a qualified car mechanic and has been for 13yrs. 3yrs ago he was made redundant and found it difficult to get another job in the motor trade. His luck has changed and started a new job as a car mechanic. He has all this city and guild, NVQ"s certs but was wondering if he could get into Australia as a Time served person, if so how would he start the process for this?? Any info would be appreciated.

9. You can take wooden furniture over, think you may be getting confused with wicker items. You can take wicker items over as well but more than likely these will be treated in oz at customs and sprayed and you'll get a bill for them. You can take a BBq over with you but not the gas bottle but remember the uk regulators may be a bit different to the oz ones (someone might correct me on this though). You can take all white goods in fact anything really. If you take tools over or garden stuff just make sure you clean it good before you go. Happy moving.
10. Hi Petals, i'm actually an Australian citizen but just living in the uk for the next couple of years but will be heading back to Perth in 2014. I wanted to know what the requirements would be to be able to study over there to become a radiographer. I know here in the uk i'd need 3 A levels to be able to get onto the course. Just wondered if anybody had any ideas??
11. Hi, was just wondering if anybody knows the entry requirements to be able to go to Uni in Perth and train as a diagnostic radiographer. Such as A levels???? Any help WOULD be appreciated natalie
12. Hi, you would be in the same situation as us. My daughter also finishes sec school in 2014 and we're moving over in the sept once she has gained her GCSE's. We and she doesn't want to stay on here in the uk for another 2 years for her to get her A Levels, so we will be going back to Perth. I recently asked this question in the 'education' part of 'pio'. I was told that she could stay in the uk and get her A Levels, then go straight to Uni in oz, hopefully go back into years 11 and 12 and complete these years in an oz school, then to Uni in oz, Go to Tafe and then uni. We think we're gonna go down the 3rd choice and see what we can do when we get out there. Where abouts are you flying to? Natalie
13. my hubby says that the 2nd hand market for cars is very very strong. My hubby is buying a landrover defender 12mths before we leave(as you need to own a car for at least 12mths before shipping) as this type of 4 x 4 is quite rare. Have a look at carsales.com.au They sell cars on there and you can chec out prices. If you need anymore info PM me. Natalie
14. Thanks guys. We have spoke to my daughter about going back to school to do her yr 11 and 12 and she said 'no' due to the fact that all her friends she left behind will be finishing school and going ahead with their education while my daughter will be going back to school. I think we're gonna go with the advice of her finding a pathway to tafe and then uni. Thanks so much for you answers and you've settled my mind an dme not having to worry as much.
15. When we moved over to oz we found that these items were expensive : bedding, decent quality furniture, cars, certain electrical items, tools, garden furniture, underwear, paint. When we move back over(we're ping pong poms) we're taking everything with us again, but we've stocked up on the above items. It saves spending money on them all when you get there. We've got rid of our 'tacky/cheap' furniture and replaced it with decent quality furniture that will last. Some of the items we have aren't worth sending over such as our fridge and things in boxes which i still haven't opened. It does all depend on where you want to shop for your things while your out there and some things that are cheap to others may seem dear to someone else. Check out some prices of furniture in oz such as : freedom furniture, harvey norman, furniture bazaar, super amart, fantastic furniture, good guys(white goods shop) bunnings(like b & q). You might be able to find some good prices on there.
16. Thanks for that info. We're actually australian citizens but moved back to the uk. We're going to be heading back over in a couple of years back to Perth. Its really for my daughter who will be 16.5 years when we do move back. She really wants to become a midwife so we said she had to do nursing and then midwifery. I know that the GCSE's don't count for anything at all over there but wasn't too sure which way to go about either getting her onto the right track to become one.
17. Hi wondered if any children have emmigrated after gaining their GCSE"S in the uk and then moving to oz and becoming a nurse/midwife. What way did you go about it once you were over in oz?? Cheers
18. You can apply online. When we moved back to the uk from oz we decided we were gonna head back to australia but we needed our ozzy passports but because it was our first ones we had to either go to Edinburgh or london. Off we went to Edinburgh and it was quite easy but the lady said that if we were still in the uk and needed a renewal we wouldn't have to go there again just to apply online. When you heading back and where to?
19.
Hi rachel, no sorry we're not in Perth as yet, could be quite a while now as hubby just landed a fantastic job here in the uk. We have some friends who's child goes there and she really likes it and has made many friends. We used to live on 'the green' estate in butler and we know our way around there loads, so if you want any questions answering i'll be honest. Can't wait to get back over there tbh, we will be soon enough. If you need any other info or if you want to meet some mums go onto face book and type in search yummy mummies in perth and a lady called lorraine will add you, its great a nd you and the hubby and your kids can meet new friends. Hope yr enjoying your time over there in oz. Where abouts are you renting? Hope you've settled well <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /> natalie x
