  1. I am a midwife (over 50)here in Oz on a 457 visa. My recent application for PR has been refused, because Australia wants a "young skilled workforce", despite the fact that there is a nursing shortage of between 80,000 and 147,000. We have both our children here and are therefore considering applying for a Contributory Parent Sponsored visa(or going home) However my son wont be here as PR for 2 years until May 2013. Does anyone know if Imm would accept an application before that date, also what is the wait for this visa now. Pretty disgusted at my treatment my Immigration, they don't deserve my skills. Would appreciate any feedback. Thank You MKF
  2. Hi, We are going over on Parent Sponsored Visa and intend bringing out 2 cars. A Merc and an XTrail. Am shocked at the amt of paperwork involved. Am thinking now is it worth it. Not moving for about 18 months, waiting to lodge our visa as we don't meet the criteria yet. I think we'll start now to get the ball rolling with the cars. The thing is WHERE DO YOU START????????? MKF
  3. Thank you for all the info on importing cars to Oz. We hope to go in about 18 mts and intend to bring 2 cars. Can't believe there's so much paperwork involved. What about valeting, what documentation do you need for that. Looking at Border Control I should imagine if there's a spec of dust on it your in deep do do! Good job we are starting this process in good time. Help!!!!!!!! MKF
  4. Thank you for that onfo. Yes I agree, sometimes it seems like a good idea to get by in an alcoholic haze!!
  5. Thank you for that. Yes our other son has been in Oz for past 2 and half years. He has a temporary self sponsored regional visa and will apply for PR at the earliest opportunity. That is our entire family in Oz.
  6. WE are in our mid 50's so aged parent doesn't apply. We need the Contributory Parent Permanent Visa. Unfortunately it will cost approx 70,000 euro. It's the quickest way to get there, What I don't know is how long your sponsor needs to be there before you can lodge. My son with the PR visa has only just gone to Oz. We are desperate to get going!! MKF
  7. HI, Congratulations. Can I ask how long did you have to wait before you could lodge your visa. In other words how long was your sponsor there and deemed "settled" before you application was accepted. About to embark on all this, but our son with the PR has only just arrived in OZ, but we want to get there asap! Regards MKF
  8. Hi, Do you know if they are allowed to work, even on a 20 hr week basis, while waiting for their visa in Oz. As parents trying to get there via the fastest route, we are looking for any loopholes. We could not afford to live there without working. Any info would be great! MKF
  9. Hi Cath, Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. To clarify; my other son has been in Oz for over 2 years. Initially on a holiday visa, he is now just about to get a Regional self sponsored visa so he cannot act as sponsor. It is my other son who has just arrived that has the PR visa. We hadn't given any thought to applying without the help of a migration agent. I would be terrified of making a blunder-it is just so important to get it right. Hopefully we won't have to wait 2 years before they will accept our lodgement. I wonder about the fact that I am a nurse with Oz registration, would that be taken into account? I need to do a bit of homework before launching into this. Wish us luck!!!! Regards MKF
  10. Hi, I havn't been on for a while. My son and his family have just left for Melbourne on a PR visa. All our family there now. So we are feeling lost. Want to get out of this country asap. I have been told by a migration agent that we can lodge our PS visa in 6 mts. That is not what I am reading on this thread. Can anyone enlighten me. Also once you lodge can you work limited hours on a long term tourist visa. Good luck to all who are on the way to OZ. MKF
  11. Hi David and Gill, I didn't know you had replied to my message- I got no alert. I hope your granddaughter is doing well. We have 3 grandchildren so I can appreciate how distressing that must have been. I'm amazed you were not given any priority under the circumstances. Indeed it is very frustrating, I'm not looking forward to the wait. You must be greatly relieved you now have a case officer. The very best of luck MKF
  12. Hi Linday, That seems like a terribly long time to wait for a case officer. I wonder can you make a case for yourself, do they take any other conditions into consideration. eg We will have 100% of our family in Oz. I have Australian nursing registration and intend to work when I get there, and we are handing over a very large sum of money to get there! MKF
  13. :twitcy:Hi, So nice to see somebody else from Ireland going to OZ on a Parent Sponsored Visa.. We have one son living in Alice on a temp self sponsored regional visa. Our other son and family have PR and are moving in a few weeks to Melbourne. That will be our entire family in OZ. We also plan to go on CPV, but to my knowledge we have to wait until my son has been there for 6 months before we can lodge. Do you know how long it takes from lodgment until a case officer is assigned. We just want to get there ASAP. Is there any way of speeding it up? My husband and I are in our mid 50's. It is indeed very expensive, but will be worth it. If anybody has any tips please let us know. We just want out of here!!! Cheers MKF:twitcy:
  14. Heading somewhere in Victoria-depends where my son gets work. Congratulations on your expected new arrival. Exciting times for you. Compared to us your plans are well advanced!! Best of luck MKF
  15. Thank you for your good wishes. When do you hope to move? MKF
