  1. Hi guys my o/h and I are wanting to move to oz with our two teenage daughters. My hubby has been a PM for the last 3 years and a Contracts Manager and Elec Eng before that. He hasn't workd on the tools for years so couldnt go as a sparky! With him being a PM albeit on elec/fire protection side am I right in thinking he could apply as a building associate? He also doesn't have a degree but has done his NVQ 3, IEE 17th edition, SMSTS etc. Any advice would be fab guys. Thanks
  2. Hi Red, that would be fab if you could let me know how you get on. Can I ask, have you applied for your assessment before doing anything else? It's all so confusing what has to be done and when. Thanks again Di
  3. Hi that would be fab, look forward to finding out your results. Also have you applied for your assessment as the first step, it's all very confusing. Di x
  4. Hi i was wondering if you have managed to find anything out regarding this. We are looking for different ways in which we can begin the process and have been concentrating on my husband's career. I have just realised that Office Manager is on the SOL Schedule 1 and 2. I have been an Office Manager for at least 13 years and also have an NVQ 4 but in Environmental Management, which I use in my current role as Sales Office Manager (I am the Carbon Champion for our depot within the organisation). I am now feeling quite hopeful so any advice, guidance, information would be most helpful. Thanks in advance Di
  5. Hi guys, It's been a long while since I was last on here. My husband who is a sparky by trade and was an Electricial Project Manager when we had our first visa assessment, which unfortunately came back negative as he was not working on the tools and because he did not have a degree as a PM, we we gave up with the idea of applying for a visa under one of those occupations. Well for the last 3 years he has been working as a Fire Alarm/Protection Installation Manager for a major company in the North East. He has gained several extra qualifications (not degree level) and also now has his SMSTS qualification (Site Manager Safety certificate). I was thinking things over the other day and after talking to hubby we still want our dream as more and more of our family and friends are also going over to Oz. I speak to all of them quite regularly and they keep telling us to go for it, best thing they ever did and so now we are going to try and look into going over with his now new career. I am also a Sales Office Manager and was thinking that might help us. I was hoping that you guys could give me some good sound advice and whether or not with his occupation we would stand a chance of getting a visa. He is 45 this month and I am now 48 (yeah yeah my toyboy lol) but have heard that the age limit has been lifted to 49/50. I think we would be looking at possible a 457 sponsored visa.............PLEASE HELP GUYS. Dizzi x
  6. Thanks Maria, that has actually made a lot of sense together with what i've read up on. Thanks a lot guys, you have been fab . Dizzi x
  7. Hi Guys Right, I thought I had it right in my head the route my hubby needs to take, but now i'm even more confused. Can someone please tell me what the correct procedure is for him to go through to have his qualifications/trade assessed, i think i'm have a totally 'blonde' day so please bear with me ;-) We thought that there was new legislation which came in which meant he would just go through the TRA do i think 2 online assessments then a technical interview via skype with the Victoria Uni. Is this correct? If this is correct and he passes does that give him his ARTC which would then enable him to proceed to go ahead and work towards his A licence? Is it advisable to do all of this before even applying for your visa, we really don't want to apply for a visa to find he doesn't pass etc etc. If someone could do it in a step by step way that would be fab................ Many thanks from a very confused woman (now you know why my nickname is Dizzi lol) Thanks guys Dizzi x
