Because I can commute by ferry and the area has lots of old buildings and waterfront parks, plus plenty of pubs and cafe's and a great community

Are you working in North Sydney (just to the North of the harbour bridge) or Turramurra which is about 20kms north of Sydney? Turramurra will be a lot cheaper to rent in than North Sydney.

Don't think it has anything to do with the email address. I still use my UK (yahoo.co.uk) email address and have had no problem posting on gumtree from Sydney.

shoes and bed sheets are the two things I still find horribly expensive otherwise anything european that you are particularly fond of cut crystal, alessi etc.

For the large 2nd VAC it appears the rate isn't quite so good, I've tried mailing the CO but to date haven't has a response

Hi Linday I'm in Australia so would be paying in dollars (we'll probably leave Mum's money in the UK until she's sold her house) and sending the form to the CO directly. For me its a lot easier to email the form than to take a long lunch to queue in the post office for an express post envelope hence my question.

Hi All Mum now has the request for her 2nd VAC to be paid. Looking at the calculator it appears i'm better off paying it here than she is in London as the rate isn't so good for higher amounts. In the email from her CO Mum has the form to pay be credit crd, my question is can I complete the form, scan it then email it or do I have to send the form via snail mail?
