  1. Sounds good! i ve just been looking at CET ballcatta. Have a look at this link: http://www.cet.asn.au/Libraries/Course_Brochures/Electrical_Trade_Licence.sflb.ashx In the top right hand corner it says you need to apply to energy safe for permission to enrol on the course and once completed you apply back to them for your license. My intention is to get Permission now for me to do the course, book on the next available one then fly out on my own do the course (if energy safe give me the ok) get a job then fly the mrs and kids out. You got your case officer then? Wont be long for you now. Once we did meds and PCs we got the grant the next day. If you have team 4 they dont mess around. If they have not asked for anything else once you upload these bang your there. Let me know how you get on. I will keep you posted on the Energy safe app. Sending it Wednesday.
  2. 4 years ago when i did the Vetasess route. From what i can remember the main thing they wanted to know was that you had worked in that ocupation for more than 6 years. They do want to see Training and certification but more importantly experience. I dont know if its still the same. I think you will be good to apply now. Your partner must have a number of Certificates available to send. Contact Vetasess and see what they say or look on there site to see if your eligable. I dont know if your aware of Skill select. It comes in July time. You have to be invited to apply for a visa then from employer your c.v goes on a database and employers looking for skilled labour can invite you to apply. Here s a link to general electrician application through Vetasess: http://www.vetassess.com.au/download/workassess/457%20Fact%20Sheet%20-%20Electrician%20(General).pdf
  3. How can you say im complaining about standards??????? What i am complaining about is the lack of information available for the correct route to gaining your A license. When i did the Vetasses in 2008, the Assesor of the practical exam even told me how much of a nightmare it was gonna be to find out what your next step is. Vetasses sent me a letter to say you will need to do gap training at a college to get your level 3 (if you went down that route). Most colleges i emailed in Queensland had never even heard of Vetasess, never mind what was to be done next for the gap training. Yes the standards are high and we obviously need to be re-trained to there regulations and way of doing things. Im happy with that and willing to do it. But There s little clarity. I have a friend who applied to energy safe who in turn told him he needed to do gap training. He went to CET to do his 2 week course. when he completed the course he asked the Lecturer about the gap training in which he replied "what gap training" 3 weeks later he got his A licence from the very same place that told him he would need to do gap training???!! maybe you can tell us what you had to do and then i can add a like to the few you have.
  4. will you be applying through Vetasses? You shouldnt have a problem as long as you can prove your six year work history with references etc The ultimate test will be getting through there paper assesment and then the practical. Once you have these and apply for the visa you will need to prove 8 year history for a 176 state sponsered visa.
  5. Hi Pal Dont quote me on this but i ve heard recently that you can apply to energy safe from the uk. They send you the acceptance letter. you then have a restricted license and have to do a log book which gets signed of by an A grade electrician while you do different types of work. Once the log book is done you can then progress to do the gap training at one of the colleges such as CET then once you succesfully pass that you can apply for your A license. this process can take between 6months to a year??? very strange process.... The other process i ve heard is that you apply to energy safe and receive your acceptance letter, go straight to the two week course at CET or other college then when passed you get your a license in a few weeks???? Dont really know whats going of mate. Theres so many conflicting storys on it that im affraid you probably wont find out until we start the process over there mate. When its all done and we have our A grades we can meet up get very drunk and laugh at all the bull **** we have had to go through to get out there and start bloody work!!! If anyone who know s the process can clarify on here how it actually is, I would be bloody dam grateful. Me heads a shed!!
  6. Thats great! Should move fast for you now Jars. Will keep checking in on you. Im betting next friday you will have your grant.... Since we have had the grant, theres one big void missing in our life. Its strange not having that battle of paper work and emails, just one big void of quietness. Kind of boring actually! Dont even know where to start with getting the old ball rolling now.....House up for sale end of June hopefully!? If i manage to drum up some spare cash to add the finishing touches. Thats the next step so will see what happens when that goes up for sale and how long it takes to sell. How long do you think it will be after your grant before you take the leap? CH:swoon:
  7. HI Just about to send off for my Restricted licence from energy safe so i can progress to book on the 2 week course. Please feel free to point me in the right direction if im making a right HASH of it. The check list says you must score 100 points. Passport = 70 driving license = 25 letter from employer =40 Does that sound ok? Also is there no way of emailing you application or did you send by post? Thanks for your help CH
  8. Hi Fergamy, our trade is Electrician - whats yours? We did our VETASSES back in 2009 so maybe they saw we had been in the process for along time and decided to rush it through or something! We got team 4 and they are really fast and efficient
  9. VISA GRANTED TODAY !!!! Just got our email to say that our 176 visas have been approved!! Cant believe it! Took exacty 3 weeks for date of lodgement and Im sure would have been even quicker if we didnt have to wait a week for the PCC's to come! Over the moon!!!!!
  10. Thanks, do they return by standard royal mail 1st class or signed for?
  11. We sent ours on Fri 11th May and had an email this morning confirming they received it on Monday 14th May... we only paid for the standard service so Im hoping it will come back late this week/early next as this is the only thing we are waiting on now for our visa to hopefully be approved!
  12. I agree with you AJ and for that very reason i did not want to go down that route. But i did speak to NECA at australia house and they did recomend them. Its probably a money spinner between NECA and Down under tradies, its probably not!
  13. Hi I share the same worries. Do you have your Vettasess OFTC? We have got the OFTC and have recently lodged our visa. I have 2 kids and it concerns me going out to Perth with no job as well as having to do the gap training. I have been assured that getting a job wont be a problem but still the doubts remain. If you have had your skills and work history checked by Vetasess then there may be an option for you to find a sponser. I recently went to a information day at Australia House london. I had the chance to meet companys that are looking for Electricians for Sponsership. Down side is they wanted you to have your A license and not the restricted licence that Vetasess gives you. I chap from NECA told me about a company that can give you your gap training in london and then line you up with a job. I contacted this company and they agreed that they can give me the gap training over 2 weekends at there centre in london and find me an employer. The cost of the course was £3000 and you had to have your Vetasess to be able to enrol. After a lot of time thinking about it i decided that i was going to do the 2 week course in perth and get my license that way. Now this company i know very little of but i will give you there website to look at. I can not vouch for them as i have decided not to go down this route. £3000 is a lot of money and you will need accomadation on top of that if you dont live in london. They seem to be working with NECA to find skilled labour such as Sparks. the website is www.downundertradies.com . I will also warn you that another reason i decided not to get a sponsership! I have friends working in Perth who have seen Sparkys first hand being sponsered and flown out to Australia. They have warned me not to do it. It seems that some companys Sponser you, Probably pay you less and after a few months end your employment which gives you 2 options. Find another employer that will sponser you within 4 weeks or go home. I think your probably better to get your skills assesed if you have not already and lodge your visa through state sponsership or PR

I sat the IELTS General exam. I think i bought my stuff from the college website. Do you know what test you need to do? Is it academic or general??

    Ielts

Almost certain IELTS results are scored and last for good. im not 100% on that butit does not say on my cert if and when they run out or how long its valid for! It helped me doing the sample papers and i would do it if i was you. My first inpression was "English test how hard can it be! but its not straight forward as it sounds and can catch you out. When I did my exam at cambridge, there was quite a few people that i met that had failed the IELTS 2-3 times. Get your head down, do your revision and turn up bright and refreshed as it really is a ball ache of a day!!!! Not something you want to be sitting again and again. Try ebay for the practice c.d and exams..
  16. When it changes to application being processed further that means you have a CO. You should have an email off your CO stating which team u have been allocated and if they need any further paperwork. Our email just requested meds and police .
  17. Ah brill thanks, was it 10 working days? Cant remember what the form said!
  18. We are waiting for our police clearances to come back, hopefully next week... think they take 10 days (uk ones in the uk)? Anyone get theirs quicker? Once we receive them do we then scan and upload as a document?
  19. Are you waiting for CO before booking medicals? We got the CO last fri and they just asked for medicals and police checks, to be honest I was going to upload more evidence of more of partners (electrician) work experience as we claiming the full 20 points for 8 years experience but they never asked for anymore so havent uploaded anymore. Im sure they could still look through it and decide to ask for more paperwork thoug (lets hope not!). Or they could be bored of looking through the amount of documents i initally uploaded !
  20. We went to Spire Hospital in Little Aston near Sutton Coldfield, we took a 3.5 year old and 21 month old daughters with us and they were brilliant, very patient! Would really recommend them, they were very organised and uploaded the kids medicals straight away (ours will take longer because of the blood tests and x rays) lol! When do you have yours Jars? Have u done your police clearances yet? We are waiting for ours to come back
  21. Well thats our medicals done today! Hopefully the results will be uploaded soon and the police clearances come back soon! Hows everyone else getting on?
  22. Hi Try asking this question on the the "ELECTRICIANS THREAD" use the search bar to find it or look under jobs and careers. Im an Electrician and the whole process to me seems very much a can of worms. Good luck
