  2. Anyone no what's happening regards electricians and the csl. I ve just seen something on immi.gov about temperary suspension. Is this good or bad? In the sun newspaper yesterday it claimed that up 75% of people are trying to quit the UK.
  3. Anyone know when the New skills list is out and if us sparks are looking like being on it? Cheers

  5. Hi Meredith You husband/partner will need to prove 6 maybe 7 years experience in the trade. When you apply for VETS or TRA it tells you the mn is 6/7 years in the trade before you can apply. When you do apply you will have to throw every bit of evidence in that you can find. references from anyone you have worked for or worked with. If i was your partner i would be looking to train as a TILER?!! There in demand over there and on the list. Electricians are currently out of favour :-( all though fingers crossed this will change soon ;-/ :notworthy:
  6. There s 2 different ways to go about it 1 being the vets route which you have to do on arrival a years training and employment experience as a trade assistant. This route anyone from england or India must take. So we all have to do the vets like it or not! Then there's the TRA. Which is a way of getting a licence without having to do the years training on site and at college. If you have the vetassess then you already have a restricted licence. All you Need to do is use this in support to apply for sponsership from any of the states. You need a visa before you can go down the road of TRA. This is a route that I myself is trying for. As I am under 31 I can get a working holiday visa which is a suitable Visa for applying to TRA. However nothings straight forward as you will see from some of the post/questions I have asked on here. Some say this loop hole is coming to an end.
  7. Bazness.....Did you send and receive your application to the TRA from england? Did you also get your certs and stuff veryified by a solicitor before you sent them? Thanks again
  8. Bazness thanks very much. Im just compiling enough evidence together at the moment. did you supply photos of any work you carried out?
  9. Thanks Simon Im not brilliant myself mate. Its one of these jobs that i jumped into. i ve just learnt as i ve gone along. as i say mate. i ve always been in the industrial game and had a few years house bashing but im installation reallly not maintenance. This is what im worried about with regards to giving evidence.
  10. Cheers Pal I ve just looked into the visa and i can still get the working holiday at 30 but not 31. i have the Mrs here and we have a 1 year old daughter and another on the way so i cant just bugger off out there. I will keep you guys posted. Can anyone give me any ideas on what to send in evidence wise for the ARTC. do you think its wise or stupid to send my VETS/OSTR cert to show i have passed VETS practical test. Im an Installation spark currently working on a power station in the midlands as a maintenance elec. Normally i would be installing but there seems to be nothing around thats worth bothering with money wise, so i parked up here hoping to ride the down turn out as this is local to home and the job pays blue book money around £15 an hour. At the minute im looking after Allen Bradley PLC,S, input and ouput cards, plant equiptment such as Limit switches,D.O.L motors, isolators, Rotork Actuators, contactors, overloads etc. the most i can prove really is general replacing of motors and SWA cable thats damaged or burnt on these plant machines i work on amongst the stuff i,ve listed previous. My role is limited to a specific area of plant which the company i work for specialise in. strictly permitted to look after the control panels and plant linked to the control panel and PLCs. nothing more nothing less. I can provide pictures and evidence of what im doing such as permits for work, job cards references but im worried this wont be enough to satisfy the assesor that im a the installation type and not the maintenance type......not that i have anything against maintenance sparks but i wanna make sure i end up with the right license. So what im trying to say is that im worried the evidence i provide wont be satisfactory for the job i say i do. any thoughts chaps? can i ask what you lads sent to get your ARTC?:chatterbox:
  11. Hi all can anyone help? I ve been told there s a back way in with gaining a licence(s). Im a 30 year old spark I have my C&G parts 1&2, 2382(17th edition), nvq 3, and compEX (oil & gas). I ve done the VETS route and passed. recently got sponsership for queensland now looking to apply for the visa. I was told that i could dump the vets route by doing the ARTC route?? Is this still an option? Can someone verify for me? Apparantly i can apply for a 1 year working holiday visa then use my aunts (goldcoast) address for correspondance then submit evidence to ARTC Get Trade certificate Go to PEER Get licence Transfer to Queensland..... Can anyone verify this for me and also give me an idea how to go about applying and what material to use. sorry about spelling. kind regards
