  1. Are you 100% on that as I would like to get a definitive answer on this one. For instance, if you refer to the assessment authority for a special needs teacher, it states: In UK, its fairly standard to do a 3 year course for a teaching degree? And negcheese has a BA degree, which although it only took 3yrs, it is comparable to an Australian BA degree, no? For special needs teachers, I was wondering if it is still set in stone that you need to have undertaken a 4yr degree? Is it even worth asking AITSL, or has someone else done this before?
  2. I had around 20k in GBP invested in shares and funds back in the UK. These were going nowhere, so I have cashed them in, and they are now sitting in a savings account back in my UK bank. I am pretty certain ill be living in Australia for at least another 5years, and most likely the long term. Therefore I want to bring the money over here, and perhaps invest in a house later in the year (in Melbourne). Q1 - What is the best way to transfer this sort of money from UK to Oz? My english friend at work said that banks swift transfers usually have bad rates and high fees, as they dont want to lose the money. Any truth in this? Q2 - When is the best time to shift it? (Can this even be answered?) I keep an eye on this link: http://www.google.com/finance?q=AUDGBP But it just seems the AUD keeps getting stronger and stronger compared to the pound - which is good, but should I be waiting for a trough or any tips on any upcoming changes that may affect this? I would be gutted if I transfer one week, and then if I waited another week, could have made a lot more (or lost a lot more I guess). Thoughts?
  3. I am filling in form 47ES for the purpose of lodging my 856 visa (currently in Melbourne on a 457). q70 - Have you previously been to Australia? I came here back in 2003 for a 1yr backpacking holiday. I can provide dates ok, but have no idea what my visa number was (which is required). That passport has expired and no idea where it went. How could I find out what that number was?

    47es q14

Im filling in form 47ES for a 856 visa. Q14 - Details of an identity card issued to you by your government (if applicable) e.g. National identity card. If I am from the UK, is this my National Insurance number? Or do I skip the Q altogether?

    form 80 q21

q21 - Do you have personal contacts in Australia (including business contacts/sponsor) I am filling in form 80 for a 856 visa, with my English partner. I am already in Oz on a 457 (same employer) and bit confused by this question. What should I put in? My employers details I assume? It mentions 'relationship to you - partner, sister, aunt, friend, business contact/sponsor. Do I put down an Aussie friend as well?

    Payment to ACRO

I currently am in Australia on a 457 visa, and am going through the process to lodge a 856. Part of this involves getting a police check from the UK via ACRO. I have the application all ready and filled out. I am trying to work out how you will accept payment? I have two applications, and at 45 pounds each = 90 pounds. How do people from overseas typically pay, as I am not sure how the currency conversion would work to get an exact number for them? They state: ' a uk Cheque, UK Postal Order, Bankers Draft made payable to HPA' I was hoping to have an option that would let me sort this out from over here in Aus.
