  1. I would never consider teaching children their rights without also teaching them their responsibilities, so why should it be wrong to tell migrants the rights they have in this country and also the responsibilities that come with these rights. That is a far cry, in my opinion, from telling someone to fit in or f*ck off.
  2. Why don't you ask at the school for options and visit your nearest TAFE to see what they have to offer?
  3. As an alternative he could do years 11 and 12 at TAFE.
  4. Don't know about Brisbane but there's more than one school in areas here. There are 3 primary schools in my small suburb. The reason I said to wait until they got here to make the decision, was so that they could find the school that suited them. Your list didn't tell you which school you didn't like
  5. Doesn't give information which you should rely on to make the decision where to enrol your children. Best to get here and look in person.
  6. You will find that the best way to go about things is to get here, look around and find the suburb you would like to reside in. Forget school until you've decided where to live. If you live in a nice suburb you will find that it will have good public schools. There will be no problem getting the 3 children into the same school. You simply front up when you are ready to enrol them. If you want to go the private school route, then you worry about applications.
  7. You pay for your own pension. It's not as good a scheme as it used to be. Talking about NSW but guess the others would be the same.
  8. Why should you stop perpetrating a lie? Do I really need to tell you? You have your opinion of John Howard and I have mine which is very different to yours. I don't like Gillard but I wouldn't lie about her.
  9. Howard went to an election with the GST as one of his policies. I do wish people would stop insisting that he didn't!!
  10. The system is fine but not all hospitals are.
  11. Baulkham Hills is close to Seven Hills station which has a multi story car park.
  12. Simple that the accommodation provided by the government for the boat people is of a much higher standard than they provided to the migrants they brought here many years ago.
  13. I was referring to living accommodation not to monetary help which your reply was all about.
  14. Totally irrelevant reply to the post you quoted. Quoting large chunks from SBS website doesn't gain brownie points.
  15. I wish I had had the same kind of accommodation when I came to Australia as those boat people. We didn't riot and burn our accommodation but I reckon that would have been the best thing for it.
  16. Yes you can. Pity your compassion is so misplaced.
  17. Hills District would be better for Glendenning than the North Shore. The bus isn't bad to get into the CBD or you could drive to one of the stations and catch a train.
  18. The reason that the queue is going nowhere is because there are so many people with money saying "bugger you" taking up the places that should be going to people who are doing the right thing. Selfishness is the curse of the world just now! if you have plenty of money you can buy yourself anything without giving a thought to those in need.
  19. I would rather they didn't get on the unseaworthy boat in the first place. Perhaps the could use their money to get a visa. John Howard's Pacific Solution saw very few boats arrive and the temp visa meant that they went home when it was safe to do so.
  20. Can't believe the compassion shown for people who can afford thousands of dollars to pay people smugglers to jump the queue at the expense of the poor people who spend years in disgusting refugee camps. Labor should have left John Howard's border protection laws in place. My compassion is for the people who are in those camps overseas, who have been processed and are patiently waiting their turn. I hope the extra intake is only for these people and those who come thro' people smugglers are sent back to whence they came. Oh, and for that poster who stated Australia has a large amount of space, do you not realise that in it's present state most of it is uninhabitable?
  21. The truth is that your normal Australian doesn't give the UK a second thought.
  22. You do talk rubbish! I tend to think that if you ever lived in Australia it was for a very short time and your attitude was such that the Australians you came in contact with told you where to go!
  23. You must be kidding! Gave me a good laugh. Have lived here for 46 years and have never come across an Australian who felt inferior to a Brit/Englishman.
  24. You know I felt exactly the same as you do before we bought our home. So homesick and unsettled for 5 years! Hopefully, you will feel the same as me when you buy. Try not to think of your past, Australia is your here and now and there is plenty to enjoy. If you are happy the children have a much better chance of being happy too. I didn't get back for a holiday for 16 years and after 46 years my family has grown from 4 sons to + 3 daughter-in-laws + 6 grandchildren and a large extended family. Life is good!
