  1. Hi there.... sorry for bursting your bubble but didnt want to bore the life outta everyone talking bout the depressing element of moving to Perth! lol! Congratulations on the new arrival... I think that we are all on the mad boat! I have 4 kids and another due in June (crazy or wot?) I am also a midwife ... has your partner organised her registration ? and are you Perth bound?
  2. Hi Folks Can anyone advise how much you can earn working as a midwife in Perth... public hospital or private ! 2 years experience and no nursing qualification. Trying to realistically work out money needed to survive in Oz. Unsure about the tax implications also. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
  3. Your situation sounds as familiar as ours. We have 4 and 1 o nhe way in june! Our eldest lad is 16 and in the middle of gcse so it hasnt been an easy decision. We are going to rent out our house in the mean time and if we decide to stay oong term then we can sell up. It is great to meet someone that has experienced the move. May I ask wot costs u considered also. If u don't mind can I send u a pm or e-mail?
  4. Well ... We haven't settled exactly on a specific area but probably up near Edgewater/Woodvale direction... God only knows why! I am a midwife and my hubbie works as a mechanical fitter, he tends to spend much of the working year ( 6-9 months) in England or southern Ireland working and I am at home with the kids. I work 32 hours a week which is 3 long days and it can be busy enough with the kids. We have talked for a long time about moving but as said before neither had the motivation to save or the nerve to move. Do you have any kids? what areas are you familiar with in Perth..? I would be grateful to hear!
  5. Hi there... Thanks for the quick response. I will try Pickfords for a quote. Are you not still in Perth? we are planning a move to Perth and this has been on the cards for many a year... financially we couldn't decide how much we realistically needed. But now we are just going to give it a go. I have researched until my fingers are blue and now that we have finally decided to give it a go it seems really unreal. I would love to hear you story if you are back in NI. Thanks again
  6. Hi People/..... Can anyone advise or provide contacts for shipping agents from Northern Ireland... Ireland. We are planning to relocate September this year to Perth. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Lisha
  7. I think you are correct ... it is each document /certificate that needs certified. The notary of public that I will use has stated that a fee of £40 for each .but the overall quote for 9 documents will be £150. I presume that my passport/driving licence will be copied and certified on one page. I hope you understand what I mean! Good luck.. i do also have a list of documents requested for registration that colleagues have forwarded me that are already settled and working in Oz. Regards
  8. Hi People.. any advice on the most efficient and competent office to send registration too? Thanks
  9. Hi there.. many congrats on securing a job. I am also a direct entry midwife and we are hoping to relocate to the same area next year. I would ideally be looking to secure a job in the same hospital! I am waiting on statement of service from my employer but have all other documents ready to send. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Are you on a sponsorship and is it advisable to contact the hospital directly. Once again many congrats! thanks
  10. Hopefully he will settle well... we are bound for Perth hopefully once we get our paper work gathered. have you secured a job? Do you have other kids for school also? It really is a difficult situation ..but as a family you hope that you make the right situation.!
  11. many thanks for the advice...! I have received other information and some people have stated that year 12 is the most important year, regarding scores! . My son is just under 6 foot tall and very very mature, great academic child. If we wait here in Ireland until he finishes his A levels that will be a further 3 school terms and he will turn 18 the year that he finishes. The prospect of waiting until then is not visible and then you run the problem of visas! It is a very tricky situation but when we make the move we are in it for the long run as he would like to attend uni, and we cant chop and change as the impact on the kids is so much!
  12. Hi there... Going through the same dilemma as yourself. Our eldest lad is 15 at present and currently in year 4 at home, he is sitting his GCSE next year and we are hoping to move around this time. He is reluctant to move as he doesn't want to mess up his education. After careful consideration and research we have decided to go ahead and on entry to Oz he will be going into year 11/12. From the information that I have gained it equates to As and A level years here... so he is happy with that although if accepted he will be joining half way through the year. We are moving with 4 kids 2 at primary school so it is a massive move for them all. I feel that it is the right decision for us all as a family and the members on this site have provided some great advice. Are you a midwife? If so we have that in common! I hope that your plans work out well!

    Year 11/12 in Oz

Many thanks for the information.... He is currently sitting 12 GCSE and had already completed 2 this year (11). He is a very mature cub.. with a great outlook on life and really enjoys school and academics. It is a really difficult decision to make but long term prospects for all the family need to be taken into account. Can i ask which school your child attends/ I have emailed a few but to date have no reply back. Do you have any children at primary school? Thanks
