hi all, im new to poms in oz and am waiting for medicals. if succesfull does anyone know how long you are given to move as we have to sell our home in order to free up the capital, this is because im going on a 176 sponsored and have to get 50.000 aus dollars.

The housing market is bad so was hoping enough time allowed for this.

Also i wondered if aus immigration frown on a career change when moved there, currently plastering and may consider something else, any advise appreciated. FANX

Hi Jules. We are in a very similar position to you. Awaiting medicals etc. before we put our house on the market - hopefully someone will give us some useful info soon!!

Good luck with everything :chatterbox:

All timelines are different but 176 state sponsored visas, people have been getting their visa around 4-6 weeks after successful meds. Once your meds come through they usually say you have 12 months to move but if a med is referred, they sometimes only give you 6 months. Don't forget, you only have the time from the date of the police checks/meds. So if you got your police check first say in May 2011, you would have til May 2012 to move. Meds and police papers are only valid for 1 year.

Hope that helps.
