  1. Check the course you are doing is AITSL accredited from the Australian University, it makes a difference when applying for registration after. https://www.aitsl.edu.au/deliver-ite-programs/apl Have a look and see if there are an accredited courses in Early Child I live in Perth and am a teacher originally from UK.
  2. Hi, I am a registered teacher originally from UK and have been through assessment In Western Australia. Some points to consider that may help. - AITSL and teacher registration is different and most likely the AITSL assessment will not be considered when trying to get teacher registration. I know it’s not considered in Western Australia. It may be in other states, but it’s doubtful. - Check the qualification policy of the teacher registration board of the state you are thinking of emigrating to. It will tell you what you require. - If a teacher registration board offers qualification advice (for a fee) it is usually cheaper to go this route especially if you are unsure if you will meet requirements. Some teachers have been refused thinking they met requirements and clearly have not. - SCITT programmes are not usually considered unless you have proof of a certificate from a university and have evidence from the university of the professional teaching units as part of your course. Sometimes a certificate will be enough if you have completed an undergraduate course related to education. If you did go the route of a SCITT programme and it wasn’t accredited by a university gather as much evidence as you can - references from schools, tutors, teaching experiences, practicums, ofsted reports etc and check our qualification advice from the State in which you want to teach in. There is also the option of Limited Registration in States which you should read up on. - QTS (don’t bother sending in your certificates unless asked for further information) it’s not considered here. - Get your university to issue you with a letter on headed paper with the number of days supervised practise. Must be 45 days minimum. - If you cannot get evidence of 45 days supervised teaching and have been teaching in schools, get your schools to write a statement of service stating how long you have been working, what years your have taught etc. You could also get them to give you references incase you need further information for registration boards. - Make sure you have all transcripts and certificates before you leave the UK. Ask the registration board if they need certified. They don’t for example in WA. If your degree was 4 years but on your transcript it only states 360 credits or 180 ECTS make sure to get a letter stating the duration of your course as 360 credits or 180 ECTS is only considered 3 years (120 credits or 60 ECTS per year) Registration boards look at content on your degree that’s why they require your transcripts. For Example. I did a BA Honours (4 years) and then did a PGCE 1 year full time If you did a 3 year Bachelor of Education you would not get registration because it has to be minimum 4 years total. However if you went and did 1 year post grad in psychology- that would be considered 4 years total. gemzypop - I would need more information relating to your degrees to give you more specifics and where your studied. Regarding masters - depends on if the issue is your course was 3 Bachelor of Education (Secondary) then you would need at least 1 more year higher education and any Masters course would be fine.
  3. Thanks for replying Ozmaniac. Do you know how I can find out for sure how many points I might have accumulated? Uncertainty about perhaps one fine it got when I first came here.
  4. Anyone know if when you transfer your UK licence over to a Western Australian licence whether any demerit points you might have accumulated whilst on the UK licence is transferred over?
  5. Yes visa grant notifications can come on a Saturday, mine did!
  6. I got an email on Saturday notifying me that the status of my application has changed. Visa was granted. My timeline Nomination & Visa application sent 16th October 2014 Visa Granted - 28th Feb 2015 (just over 4.5 mths) Not sure when the nomination was approved. Occupation - Early Childhood Teacher (Perth) Processing centre - Parramatta
  7. Bikerboy, My agent told me on Thursday that Immigration are allocating October files at the moment and she didn't think she would hear about mine for another week or two. Looks like it will be a bit longer for you if you applied in November. Sit tight!
  8. Definitely an oversupply of Primary Teachers, you will be lucky to get a permanent job in the main cities. I am also a Primary Teacher but had to go into a childcare setting as the Early Childhood Teacher to get my visa, though it was sponsored.
  9. Agree with Cal, try carsales.com.au as well. Need to know a bit about cars when buying, some dodgy dealers out there and yes second hand cars cost more than you reckon. If you are buying from a car yard, other than a main dealership then the RAC can provide assistance and look over the car for you. John Hughes is a huge dealership in WA but I personally didn't like the salesmen, though know loads of people that have bought there. AHG is another one. Check them out on the net.
  10. HI Jimmyzhang, Hopefully you have been given the right information by your agent. Good Luck to you all.
  11. Thank you Jimmyzhang, I attached all the documents (PCCs from UK & AUS included) to the visa application. I had my medicals at the beginning of October, that was the last thing I did and then my agent lodged the visa application and nomination on the 16th.
  12. If I was you I would get advice from a migration agent. I've just been granted mine but it took 4.5 months from the time it was lodged but my company said the would do it ages before that and it took them months to get organised and I had to use their migration agents to lodge visa application. PM me if you want details of the migration agent I used. I'm in Perth but they are in Melbourne. Everything is done online so doesn't matter where the agents are based as long as they are good!
  13. I applied for a PCC in Nov 13 and it was attached to my visa application. I was nervous last week when I read posts here that the PCC has to be valid at the time your case is opened by the case officer. That to me meant i needed a new one as it technically expired Nov 14, although visa and all documents were sent in October 14. I thought it would take me about a month or so to get a new PCC because i applied onshore. I emailed my migration agent who said as long as I have not been out the country (Australia) since the UK PCC expired and the information was up to date on Form80 I should be ok.. and she was right, as my visa was granted 28th Feb!! Best always to check with your agent though as everyone has different circumstances. I also had heard that it depends on the case officer (who knows?) Good luck to all those that are waiting for their visa to come through.
  14. Woohoo, visa granted. First post in this forum but been reading almost everyday! Got an email from immi at 10am on 28th Feb but did not quite believe it because I couldn't get access to my grant letter which is probably been sent to my migration agent. So had to check my VEVO status and that confirmed my PR status. Thanks to everyone that has posted information recently and in the past. It all helps when your anxiously waiting. Good luck to all that are still waiting. My timeline Nomination & Visa application sent 16th October Visa Granted - 28th Feb (just over 4.5 mths) Not sure when the nomination was approved. Occupation - Early Childhood Teacher (Perth) Processing centre - Parramatta Also the following information might help someone out. Its with regards to the PCC (UK) I applied for a PCC in Nov 13 and it was attached to my visa application. I was nervous last week when I read a forum on here and they were talking about the PCC has to be valid at the time your case is opened by the case officer. Best always to check with your agent though as everyone has different circumstances. I also had heard that it depends on the case officer (who knows?) Best of luck again.
