  1. Thank you Ibbonbon for you in-depth reply. The registration sounds promising, however the hurdle of AITSL for the 189 visa would be the sticking point I feel as I do not have a PGCE? In regards to my degree I have a 3 year BA(hons), 360 credits in total. I then completed a 1 year post-graduate ITT course which was not accredited by a university, therefore only received QTS. I had 120 days in school, so would have met the 45 day minimum threshold of supervised teaching. I have full evidence of observations for training, professional portfolio for each of the teaching standards along with written assignments evidence. I have also mentored PGCE students since qualifying myself. I may have to look at a different visa route, and then apply to a teaching registration board once out.
  2. Thank you both. Yes I had seen the SmartTeachers qualifications page, and knew QTS was not recognised. It's frustrating, as I did a Schools Direct programme which did not offer a PGCE. I have the 45 days' supervised teaching practice, with full evidence of observations as it was a requirement to gain QTS. We also had weekly lectures onsite at university. It's very frustrating! Do you know whether the Masters of Education could be a route?
  3. Hi All, My husband and I are both secondary school teachers, with QTS but not PGCE. Having completed our teacher training in order to emigrate, only to realise that the QTS isn't sufficient. The course leader repeatedly told trainees that QTS alone would allow teachers to teach worldwide (but specifically Australia), which I now know to be a lie and feel rather stupid for not investigating further before. We are desperate to return to Australia, after spending two years there on a working holiday visa 2012-2014. I'm looking for advice from anyone who may have been in a similar situation. I have looked into PGCE top up, however I don't think this would satisfy the visa requirements. I have also explored the options of a Masters of Education, would this be a pathway worth exploring? How have you managed to overcome only having QTS without PGC for the 189 Visa? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Feeling rather despondent!
