Sammy1 Posted September 4, 2012 Share Posted September 4, 2012 I lived there for five years. Do not walk alone at night anywhere, especially near the Todd River or centre of town. If you are a woman - even more so. Alice Springs has a lot of social issues and violence fueled by the abuse of alcohol. On the plus side there are a LOT of well paid jobs there. Young families are in abundance and you will make friends easily. It has everything you need from a large hospital to beautiful outdoor swimming pools and amazing scenery. The nightlife is busy and vibrant as there are many back packer hostels and hotels in Alice. A lot of tourists use it as abase to go and visit Ayres Rock. Just be careful at night.
