ghost
Just been looking at car insurance, prices seem good, but motorcycle insurance seems ridiculous. I pay about £200 in the uk for two bikes. Over here for one bike it's $1200. How has everyone else found it ?
Edwards
And there's me thinking that riding a motorbike in oz would save me a fortune as cars are so bloody expensive.
furkew
$1200 seems extremely high to me. What bike & whats the value? I use Swann insurance & my bike is valued at $18k and costs $500 per year fully comp including helmet cover, recovery etc. Shannons is meant to be very good as well,
ghost
It's a yam xv1900 a cruiser so I thought would be cheap. I wonder if mentioning mods in the quote was not a good idea ?
Eera
Agree with Furkew. Don't bother with conventional insurers like AAMI etc, they ahve no idea how to price a bike. Swann or a specialist bike insurer will be cheaper.

I have an XV1700 which is very heavily modified and have been with Swann for just over 4 years, I had a pay out of nearly $19k 2 years ago when I wrote my bike off (repairable) and I am still only paying just over $500. Guest johnjessi
However, average motorcycle insurance ratesinsurance rates can be quite high since motorcyclists are more vulnerable to injury and accidents than car drivers.
