pandv_2000
Hi we are planning a reccie trip next year and are thinking of travelling to either Hong Kong or Tokyo for a 4/5 night stopover then onto Brisbane for the majority of our trip and finishing in Sydney. What I'm playing around with atm is the idea of driving from Brisbane to Sydney with a 1 night stay somewhere en route. Has anyone done this and if so can you recommend an area to stay he night and take in some of the sights?
Guest The Pom Queen
Are you thinking of sticking to the coast or heading inland? On the coast you could look at Coffs Harbour or Byron Bay, the Gold Coast is lovely but a long 2nd leg. Inland we stayed at Coonabarraban which is great if you want to see the wildlife http://www.pilligapottery.com.au/old_schoolhouse.html

The more I think about it the more I think we will take a bit of time going down the coast - do a few hours driving every day and stay over a couple of places. Guest spadgersdad
Byron Bay always worth a visit, although become very commercialised over the last few years, but still a pretty place to have a couple of days rest. Clarkes Beach or First Sun Camping Grounds have excellent facilities and located in the heart of Byron so no driving when you arrive, and a cheaper way to travel. Have a great trip
Guest prats
Hi All, I am new to the forum. Hi I have recieved sub class VE 176 SS (VIC) grant. We have visa stickers or labels evidenced on our passports (me, spouse and lil kid). I was thinking and trying to call DIAC from overseas, but it was taking lot of time to connect any officer. but, I have read this from forum and thread about Validation trip and came to know lots of important information which is required for a Validation the trip as a holiday. Thanks to all here in the thread. I had also few doubts of what is validation and what to do exactly on a validation trip... Q1: We have initial entry date in Dec 2011 and therefore we thought to enter and visit Australia in October 2011 and return back after staying 4 days in October2011 itself...So it that OK...? as a validation of Visas and then again we can move to Australia next year...? Q2: Since we will visit Australia just as a holiday trip, we would not be able to do formalities like opening a Bank account, Registering with centrelink, Tax File Number and Medicare. So it that OK...? and Is these formalities are part of part of visa validation or they are nothing to with DIAC VISAS. We are carring Cash so not opening bank account as of now; We are taking travel Insurance includes health insurance,So not thinking on medicare. Advise/Suggestions would higly appreciated... Thankx
BackToAdelaide
Visa validation is simply entering Australia using your visa. Registering for Medicare, TFNs etc have no affect on this at all. You can organise a bank account by applying online to any of the major banks and the other things you can do when you actually move to Australia. Once you have validated the visa (with your initial trip this month) you will then have 5 years to move.

BackToAdelaide
You don't need to open a bank account yet unless you want to put money into it. If it was me I'd probably wait until you're ready to move permanently. If you do choose to open one you don't have to put money into it straight away.
