Pingpongpom2
Hi Sharon:smile:..i am from Perth..am not there at mo, but due to return soon. I am an LSA in a Highschool here and hope to get the same work back there. The system in WA seems to be different, in that i believe you have to have qualifications. When i started in Learning Support 15 years ago here, there were no qualifications required. When we were in Perth in 2008, my eldest son worked in a school as Support Staff, but this was much due to contacts with people, who were already working in the education system. Do you have HLTA qualifications? I don't know whether this may help you there. I have lots of family there, so will make enquiries about this and get back to you. Feel free to PM me also. Quoll, a member on here, may also be of help, as i'm sure she knows about the education system somewhat...all the best

wishfulthinking
How do you get them recognised? I'm also a TA but have only just passed my level 2 this year. I used to live in Perth but am now back in the uk but will be heading there again next year. They are called Special Need Assistants over there and from what i've heard there isn't much call for them over there. I'm thinking of a career change already. will be nice to hear if this is any different.
