Terrible thought - unbearable

Ohhmyyygoddddd!!!!

Just had a terrible thought that we'd be suicidal if we got rejected.

If we get an ok on the TRA and then put our application in what are the chances of it getting rejected? We got 125 points on self-test points system. If you are rejected how soon do you find out - couldn't bear to wait 4/5 months & then be told.

I think I need to calm down a bit & stop thinking about Oz but how can I - it seems to have taken over every waking (& sleeping - having the strangest dreams!) moment.

We've talked over our plans with our kids & our 7 year old football & generally sports-mad daughter can't wait however our 8 year old boy (reading, cookery & computer games) has decided he is not going - he'll move in with anyone else who will have him to avoid going! Does anyone know of a 7-10 year old who has made the move & would email my grumbler to set his mind at rest?

Thx

Hiya ,,i know that feeling ,we have just had our medicals today after starting the ball rolling in September ,,this is our biggest hurdle as i have a medical condition so we really dont know what the final answer will be,, leaving us in all sorts of limbo ,,,cant advertise house or anything ,,just in case ,,,my son (7) wasnt over keen on leaving friends behind etc but after visiting for a couple of weeks ,he saw everything in a different light he easily made friends on the parks we visited etc and now he keeps saying 'when we go' which is now doing my head in as it always seems to be when im having a none aussie moment and i have to keep saying 'if we go',,just hope everything goes quickly from here dont know how much longer my sanity will stay

take care and good luck

Hi

I know it is easy for me to say do not worry, but you have to try, other wise you will make yourself sick with worry.

We have a ten year old, eight year old and two year, the older two can not wait to go, and are very excited.

PLease try not to worry

Fingers crossed for you all

I have just applied for my medical and police checks - I am paranoid that something will go wrong. I pray for you that all will be well and one day we'll all be happy. Try not to stress as these things are out of our control and nothing can be done other than going through the motions.

Hi,

I know how you feel, this waiting thing is such a nightmare. I think about it constantly and have started to cut ties and stop 'living' here. It's strange but I don't feel like I'm living properly here and yet I can't quite reach my new life - argh! it's all so frustrating.

I'm sure your little one will adjust well, he probably just has no idea what to expect. He probably thinks it will be just like neighbours! I'm sure once you've been there a little while he will be just fine. I went to 6 different schools as a kid and every time I didn't want to move and every time I made new friends.

Good luck to you and all the other still waiting.

Hi Steph,

I know exactly what you mean about not living here any more. I too have started to cut ties, my friends probably think I'm dead unsociable at the moment and it sounds bad but I can't be bothered to make the effort with them any more. :(

I've probably got a lot longer to wait than you though, our application only arrived in OZ on 11th April.

The other thing is, I don't buy anything without thinking, will I need this in Oz? or I might as well wait until I get there. So shopping therapy has gone out the window too. Besides any spare cash goes to the cause anyway!

BRING IT ON!

Ha.. I'm glad it's not just me.

We haven't bought anything for ages and barely eat out anymore... trying to save as much money as possible.

there have been a couple of days when I've just thought 'I'm not going anywhere... I'll just put on a clean pair of pj's'. My husband thinks I'm mad! I just had a workman knock on the door to move my car and me and my son were still in pj's. I need to get my act together. I have done my eyebrows so at least that's something!!!

I really need to get my finger out.

Sorry, that was long

Aw Beth,

Don't panick,, it's great thing! I'm sure you wont be in rental forever.

Soon you'll be sunning yourself 12,000 miles away.

Are you ok yet?

We even gave up smoking for the cause, you would have thought we'd have bundles of spare cash just on the strength of that! Oh no, I probably spend that on the boxs of white wine I'm getting through instead!

That line in Madonas song keeps going through my head...Time goes by so slowly....

yep wouldnt it be great if everywhere was like britain, come here, we'll pay all your living expenses, no need to work we've got plenty of fools here already doing that to pay for you! we'll even give you a car and money for trips home. A warm welcome from Blairs britain!! Workers need not apply!! only scroungers!!

This fool is getting out asap, even if it does cost a couple of thousand pounds, the way i see it we'll soon recoup that money through not paying the bloody extortionate gas bills here (that are set to rise again),

Just stepping off my soap box,

Beth.

Okay feels like these are my daily waking thoughts!!

I too need to stop thinking of pyjamas as all day wear!

I too have little conversation other than Australia! Been like that for 5 years now! So I say this is the reason I don't have a life? or the fact that I am a single parent

Just can't wait now to keep living the dream, wish my computer would run Google earth but it's not up for it and don't want to buy a new one until I get there!

WHAT ARE WE LIKE?!

Keep surfin

thanks , i am hoping things arent too bad ,the Doc said he'd have my blood tests back in a week and would ring me if there was a problem with them ,no call as yet ,,i also enclosed a pretty detailed specialist report which cut out being sent for 'further investigation' (hopefully), he didnt really do much i expected treadmills, and a breast fondle etc but it was basically,,weight, height ,listen to chest, blood test ,blood pressure, urine test and x-ray ,,basically anyone sweating it out at the gym neednt bother!!! we were in and out everything done in 2hr 20 min and thats a family of 4.

i agree about talking to friends , how come when i start talking i get that 'oh god not again' look ?? come to think of it i think i have mentioned Oz in EVERY conversation i've had to ANYONE in the past 8 mth ,but thats all thats in my head im not even thinking about being turned down,so in the next month (ish) if you hear on the news of a Bury woman jumping off a bridge ,dont send a condolense card ,just go buy a drink on me when you arrive in Oz,,xx

Good luck to you all

LOL - I'm glad it's not just us who feel like they've put their lives on hold :) Our entire lives, right now, are geared towards moving and it can't come quickly enough.

One day at a time :)

hi again,

Well as for not being in my pj's - ha! I'm still sat in them. I have got my son dressed though, so even though I'm a slob at least I'm being a half decent mother... not that he cares, he'll get jam down whatever he's wearing so it doesn't really matter.

I know what you mean cal, I can not think about not getting in. Me and my hubby have half attempted to have a conversation about what we would do but it's too difficult to even think about.

Is it just me or is everyone sick of being asked 'have you heard anything?' ??? It's driving me nuts... NO I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING AND IF I HAD I WOULD BE IN AUSTRALIA NOT IN ENGLAND TALKING TO YOU ooops! Sorry, I wish I had heard something though.

Waffle over - sorry,

hello,

does anybody else have a mother who is constantly somewhere between crying and hysterical, friends who really want to punish you for abandoning them and a brother in law who can bearly stand to talk to you, or is that just my happy bunch!!!

I really wish we had not told anyone until a month before we left, as it is we have got 18 months of this emotional blackmail and overwhelming support (not).

Any words of wisdom to shut them all up would be great right now!!!

Thanx

Beth  :?
