I have a Diploma in Specialist Suppot Teaching and Learning Level 3, and currently work as a Teaching Assistant in the Foundation stage, Primary. I am also very interested in Studying to become a Hospital Play Specialist, there is a Degree you can take over here. I have searched the web and can't seem to find any courses like this avalible in Australia. Can anyone tell me if they know of any such course, maybe i'm searching in the wrong place. Guest The Pom Queen
Hi Angela Unfortunately I have no idea what hospitals have over here for the children, it may be worth asking "Itcouldbeworse" Kev, if anyone can help it will probably be Kev. Good luck Kate
Guest tiri
Hi Angela, I think you first have to study play therapy at postgrad level and then apply for a position at a hospital afterwards and gain inhouse experience (as most play therapy courses cover a wide subject - the job you do after qualifying as a play therapist could be within a hospital, social services, police etc) So maybe research play therapy courses in Australia and see if thats the course you're looking for and is similar to the ones you've seen over here.
