  2. Hello all! My football (soccer) club is looking for players for its senior first team, reserves (playing on Saturdays) and social sides (playing Sundays and mid-week evenings). The team is Nerang Eagles and is ideally situated at the Northern end of the Gold Coast and is easily accessible from surrounding suburbs and the motorway. The pitch address is: Glennon Park, Nerang. It has great facilities and is a well ran club, who look after all of its players. Family orientated, with good junior base as well. We're a great club for getting to know people and there are a LOT of ex-pats, probably because of our great location and the great atmosphere we have. We have spots to fit most standards so if you're keen for a kick around then Join us for some of our pre-season training sessions. Training is Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 630pm and is on NOW!!! Cheers!

    Back to the grind stone!

Hey folks Any one else back to work tomorrow? No more late nights for a little while, less play time, less wine with dinner and less time to hang out on PIO!! :em4600: At least we have one of those incredibly useful and informative staff training days tomorrow :err:to ease back in to the whole thing before the game face goes on again to face the youth of today. :happy_face_outlaw_s Millie x

    Indoor play areas in Perth....

Which are the best indoor play areas in Perth? :cute:
  6. We avoid Australian TV in our house, as I'm sure many of you do, and have happily existed watching only DVDs this year. (Breaking Bad was a real highlight - highly recommend). However, I'm keen to expand our horizons and start downloading TV. Where I get a little fuzzy on the process is that I want to watch the show that I've downloaded on my TV (actually just a large computer monitor) in the lounge rather than on an iPAD or at the computer desk. Does anyone use Apple TV or any other gadget to route the internet content to TV? If so, is it any good? I'm not interested in Fetch TV or any other devices that would also bring regular TV back into our home. I just want to play what we've downloaded but I'm concerned that some of the devices, such as Apple TV, might be restricted to iTunes only content or that it would take an aeon to route the program from computer to TV. I hope there is someone out there in PIO world that can give advice in 'normal-speak' as I'm (clearly) technologically-challenged. Thanks.
  7. Hi, my name is Ash and I am a 21 year old from Birmingham living in Sydney CBD looking to play some football. I'm not a great player but can certainly play. If I'm not good enough to play for a team competitively I am more than happy to just train or anything. Just an oppurtunity to kick a football a couple of times a week would be great! Thanks
  8. Myself and my OH are planning to emigrate with our 2 children to Oz March 2012 and we're considering flights. We have no set plans - we're both a bit nervous about the move but there are many positives for us (including having family over there, which we don't have here in the UK). We both live here on about £60k but as the costs of living are quite good here in the UK, we do okay. We're nervous about the unknown and the costs of living in Australia, so are completely prepared to do 2 years then return back to the UK if we struggle in Australia (or just miss it!). I am looking at flights - we want to fly Singapore as we'll have two kids under the age of 2. One way flights are £1,800 and returns are £3k. Does anyone know how long the return date can extend? (i.e. is it limited for a year or two?) The thing is, it will only be a safety net in case we really need to return but I did look at the reverse and one way from Australia with Singapore is £2,700....ouch! Any advice would be appreciated, as always!
  9. This is a really basic (dumb) question ....... we are thinking of moving our two kids (aged 7 & 4) to either Melbourne or Sydney. We currently live in Belfast, however my wife has good job opportunities in Oz. I have been researching life in Melbourne and Sydney and the postings are really useful from other users (big thanks). Although it rains 110% of the time in Ireland - it has occured to me that if my kids run between the raindrops in reality they spend alot of time outdoors here. Is this achievable for example in a Melbourne suburb? The Primary Schools sensibly have 'Sun policies' etc - do kids get to do much outdoors at school? I am assuming the summer months are restrictive, but otherwise is this achieveable? (I am trying to see beyond relocation companies spin on sunny weather) Any help appreciated!

  14. My husband and I have been in Perth for about a month now. He really wants to get back into playing football, but is having a hard time finding a team. He knows a guy that plays in a 5 a side league, but you have to come down and watch and drink for a few weeks before they will let you play. He doesn't mind a pint or two, but doesn't want to just go down and get pissed without playing. I'm sure there are other guys out there looking for the same. If anyone out there wants to start out a team let us know and maybe we can get something started

  23. Hello. Kids can not be sent into the garden to play in London for a minimum of half the year. My ideal is to have a house with lovely indoor outdoor living where kids are able to play in the garden for most of the year. Is this possible in Melbourne?
  24. Hi everyone, There has been a lot grief on the phorum regarding the new changes from the 8th of Feb. Let's try to look at it from the different perspective. I applied for SS (NSW), non CSL, non MODL in May 2009, got a case officer within 20 days, submitted meds and police check and then suddenly my application was put on ice in September. I have a PhD, 5 years of work experience in Oz (457 visa), NSW sponsorship, I've paid hundreds thousands in taxes and I had to give a way to all hairdressers and cooks who spent 6 months studying some course in OZ to receive the CSL priority and become taxi drivers. Not too bad.... I hope finally there will be some justice and I would like to thank Chris Evans for that. Finally OZ will be looking to accept those applicants who are really skilled. Actually, the justice has already happened to me, I got my 176 visa last week. I believe it could only happen cos now the case officers have some time to look at the 5th category - State Sponsored applicants and maybe even 6th category - MODL and family sponsored. To cut long story short I got a message to all Cat 5 applicants - you are the clear winners from the new changes, it is not going to be three years for you to get a visa, it is coming. And it is coming soon...... Good luck to all of you! Fingers crossed!
