I'm moving to Melbourne in the middle of Feb, and I'll be looking for a furnished room to rent. I've taken a look at Gumtree and there seems to be a lot of posts there, with prices all over the shop. I was just wondering what you guys have experienced in terms of prices with short term room rentals? Also, are there any other websites that are worth checking out? Naturally this is my main area of concern, I would want to secure a room to rent in the first few days of arriving. I've been reading and it appears St. Kilda is a good place to live - is this area generally considered to be more expensive than other areas within the same proximity to the city centre? For a room share I would think around $200 per week for an average property, if you want to go a little up market you can pay $300 per week.
