Is 'Nurse' likely to be taken off the list in the next couple of years or is it one that may always be there on one list or another, I know they change a lot but is nurse a pretty sure thing? Thinking of re-training x

There is no sure thing with DIAC.. but I reckon Registered Nurses, who have been suitably trained (to the level they seem to be moving towards.. ie; degree) and suitably experienced/specialised.. will stay on the skills list indefinately.

Dont think that can be said for many other professions, with the exception of medicine maybe.

Thinking of re-training as a nurse just to get into Australia, I would not recommend.. its a very difficult job that requires alot of dedication on many levels. You need to be very sure that being a nurse is what you want.

Hope that helps

Nurse training is not the easiest. It wasnt 20 years ago and has only got harder. The age old thing of nursing being a profession is true too. Its the kind of job you have to want to do.

I know I would want to do it which is exactly why I was asking if it was going to stay on the skills list because Ive already done my access course so Ive known for 2 years Ive wanted to do it at some point lol but wasnt sure if it was worth doing it before Australia x

In the 15 yrs I've been here I've never known it off the list, and judging by proposed growth in the health sector, and drop out of new grads, I don't think it's likely to be.............in Qld anyway.

Good luck
