User Name Posted August 29, 2010 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Hi Guys, Anyone knows if SMPs have any chance of rescuing some of us from this cursed group 4? I can't picture any state wanting fresh grads with no specialisations but many in group 4 are looking for SMPs as last hope to get out of cat4. I am not sure how SMPs work, but suppose a state picks 261399 Software and Applications Programmers nec or 261314 Software Tester, which maps to 2231-79 (nec). Anyways one of the other posts have confirmed that new graduates are on SOL 3 as the same degree has been assessed as a Developer not as a 2231-79 ICT Graduates. So do not worry let the new gov come and they will fina a way for us.Or you can spend 375 more and get re assesed and give DIMMIA yor new ANZSCO mapped assesment. I remember putting it the "nec" in my PASA way back in January and got "ICT Recent Grad". Anyways, I thinks states would rather pick Developer Programmer or Analyst Programmer if they wanted experienced code monkeys instead of 261399 Software and Applications Programmers nec. You can't change your ASCO to ANZSCO in your existing application. Only way is to lodge a new application. That's an impression that i got after reading information on the website. As a fresh uni graduate (I am an Accountant, finished my studies in July 2010) i could only apply for 175 visa. Atm for Queensland SS, 4 years experience is required for IT professions (last time I checked at least), 2231-79 (Graduates) are not even in the list for 886. No. WA requires 7 IELTS for accountants. The only condition is that the students must have studied in WA only. Grads from other states face far more strict requirements like a job offer and work experience. You mean 885 right ? I got 8.5 in IELTS . No , I applied for 175 visa as I am NZ national and 885/886 visas do not apply to me as I am NOT an international student.
