Hello;

Is it a cheaper to buy a sat nav / Tom Tom or equivalent when we are in Australia or buy one in UK and load Australian maps onto it? Does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks in advance.

They were advertised on sale in Australia in Harvey Normans for$99. Normaly i think they start at around $150 ish. Tom Tom brand is more expensive.

We brought our Tom Tom from the UK loaded with Australian Maps. This was until we got a car with a sat nav built in.

We have since lent the Tom Tom to friends over here and it does work a treat but as Brooksey says they are fairly cheap in Harvey Norman so unless you already have one I would wait.

Found there's been a few on offer at various places lately.

Didn't bother bringing TomTom from UK, sold it.

Recently, 4.3" TomTom was on sale for $199 in Dick Smith. Waited and shopped around then I spotted a 4.3" Garmin on offer for $168 and they gave us a good case and some bits and put it up to $199 but was still a better deal than the TomTom and the deal included free "lifetime" map updates which is much better than we'd have got with the TomTom from Dick Smith! :cute:
