Car Question

Hi All

Am thinking of moving back after Xmas but have a car loan. I would like to take the car with me and my estranged husband (who is remaining here) has agreed to continue payments on the car (payments are in both our names currently). Can I take the car out of the country if it still has money owing on it? Would really appreciate any advice as it's a lovely Sabaru Impreza and I would only have to buy one in the Uk anyway.

Thanks a bunch!

I would doubt it.You would certainly need permission from the finance company anyway but I would be very doubtful that they would give it whilst the vehicle had outstanding finance.

No - you can't move a car that is subject to finance (a friend of ours tried the exact same thing). Also check out the costs involved in moving the car vs selling here and using the good exchange rate to help buy back in the UK.
