Guest Liverbird5
Hi All Am thinking of moving back after Xmas but have a car loan. I would like to take the car with me and my estranged husband (who is remaining here) has agreed to continue payments on the car (payments are in both our names currently). Can I take the car out of the country if it still has money owing on it? Would really appreciate any advice as it's a lovely Sabaru Impreza and I would only have to buy one in the Uk anyway. Thanks a bunch!
Guest proud2beaussie
I would doubt it.You would certainly need permission from the finance company anyway but I would be very doubtful that they would give it whilst the vehicle had outstanding finance. perthgooner
No - you can't move a car that is subject to finance (a friend of ours tried the exact same thing). Also check out the costs involved in moving the car vs selling here and using the good exchange rate to help buy back in the UK.
Guest guyadamsg3
I've had a quote for shipping my 73 Beetle to the UK from Melbourne. About $2100 all in

TheBrammies
i would sell the car here as you get more for second hand here and buy a second hand one in the uk you also have a good exchange rate and second hand cars in the uk are usally alot cheaper
20yrspommie
Seriously it isnt worth the hassle will cost around 1200 pounds in the UK to do the SVA test and rego apart from the shipping. Check on pistonheads for example for how much cars are in the UK
