Bribie Island- Any thoughts??

I'm a nurse and partner a carpenter, so would both have to commute but hopefully not yo far. Reading this thread back in 2009 it seemed younger families were thinking of setting up home there, wondered if this now was the case as we have visited the island for a week early 2013 and really liked it. For me it's just meeting people with young children as I will have a 1 and 3 year old by the time we move.

The island is tops, but it really doesn't have a high proportion of young families. It's got load of retirees though. As a nurse, if you want to work on Bribie, aged care would seem to be appropriate. If you're speacialised then you'll need to make a shortlist of hospital/facilities that you could work in. As a carpenter, your husband will anyway need to travel. With 2 young children, will you both be able to work?

Although it might seem appealing to live near the beach, unless you're living within walking distance you'll take the car, and if you're anyway in the car you might as well live 15 mins away. Like I say, we go to Bribie quite a lot, and it's a definite favourite, but sometimes we feel like a change and go to Caloundra or even Noosa. (Or even Redcliffe!). Personaly, I wouldn't get too hung up about living near the beach; the beaches here are still very accessible even if you live inland a little.
