Migration Issues and should we be paying the final installments

Hi All

 

With all the current issues over migration and much of the criteria changing where does this leave us?

We are at the final stages with our visa application and have been asked by our agents thinking australia for our final payment.

My wife is a hairdresser and we have been told that we could be waiting another 2-3 years with the recent changes.

Should we be paying based on this as we are very confused now as to how and where we stand.

Your heading could be interpreted with another meaning for there is a second installment for visas that is only used where a secondary applicant does not have the required level of english, but somehow with names of Darren and Natalie, I do not think that is the case.

 

If you're saying that you've already paid X ammount in fees to the agent and now they want a final payment to lodge your application, that's another matter, especially if fees to date have not included the actual DIAC visa fee.

 

The agent should have been more up front with you it would seem to keep you appraised of the changes in respect to priority processing and you can read those yourself @ http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/faq-priority-processing.pdf

 

They should also have told you that there is a review currently underway and announcement of any changes due hopefully sometime either side of Xmas -NY.

 

Meanwhile, hairdressing has been identified as a training course that many overseas students have been signing up for in the hope of using it as a pathway to PR and that in itself could cause there to be a flood of hairdressers in the market and thus it could be dropped down the prioritisation listing with future changes.

 

From the link above, you'll see that the government has put a focus on Employer Sponsorship and that is what quite a few people are looking at - Visa Options - Employer Sponsored Workers - Workers - Visas & Immigration . and there are eligibility criteria still to be met, so have a good read of those visas.

The other avenue you may want to consider if both are young enough is the Working Holiday Visa route, get jobs in Australia and see about sponsorship if eligibility is met by all and you find a good employer who is happy with Natalie.
