Hi, I drive through Milton most days.....nice big park, state primary looks impressive, very near to the city, good transport links, nice shops and restaurants dotted here and there!!....not sure on real estate prices, probably quite high due to the location to the city, house there are older properties....on the whole I think it looks fab!....x

Milton is a suburb of two parts, on either side of Milton Road.

 

The river side of Milton Road is dominated by light industry and commercial office blocks, broken up by the Park Road restaurant district. If all you saw of Milton was Milton Road and this area you probably would not judge it as a nice place to live. This area contains Milton train station and plans are with council to redevelop this area into a major apartment urban hub based around the train station.

 

On the other hand, the other side of Milton Road behind the XXXX Brewery is where most of the houses are and is much quieter. There are very few houses that come to the market in Milton as it is small area. These character houses are generally within walking distance of Rosalie Village, Milton State School, Gregory Park and Lang Park (Suncorp Stadium). The area around Gregory Park is fantastic giving you walking access to shops, cafes and restaurants at Rosalie Village, Haig Road, Baroona Road, Park Road, Latrobe/Given Terrace and Milton Road at Auchenflower. The park is the intersection for 3 suburbs - Milton, Auchenflower and Paddington so if you wish to live around there it pays to search for real estate in all 3. If you wish to explore the area turn off Milton Road at Baroona Rd and continue to Gregory Park and Rosalie Village.

 

The train take 4 minutes into the CBD and it is less than half an hour walk. You have quick access to the bicentennial bikeway that runs along the river into the city and to Toowong.

 

You can walk to Toowong in half an hour, the Wesley hospital in about 15 minutes and the great shops and restaurants of Latrobe Terrace in about 15 mins.

 

You also have quick access onto the Inner City Bypass travelling north or to the airport, the south east freeway travelling south and the hills and mountains of the beautiful western suburbs.

 

The area is full of beautiful character homes so is great if architecture is one of your interests. It has Brisbane's oldest privately owned home (1859) run as a b&b, government house and several heritage listed residences.

 

You also can walk to 52,000 seater Suncorp Stadium to watch Rugby League/Union, Football etc.

 

Gregory Park has a great kids playground that is buzzing every w/e with kids.

 

Supermarket and other shopping is provided by Milton, Paddington, Toowong Village, Ashgrove, Indooroopilly and the CBD.

 

The downside to all this convenience is the price. While by no means the dearest area of Brisbane you are still looking at starter prices for a nice, small home of approx AUD$650,000 and about AUD$500/week rent.
