Guest tumblealot
Hello, From personal experience there are a lot of companies out there. You have the big companies, who soley deal with international shipments. They are; Anglo Pacific, PSS and one other, cant remember the name! I was always advised to use one of these cos they specialise in these type of shipments and therefore they know their stuff and less room for mistakes. There are loads of other co who deal with EU and Uk shipments aswell. These are; Bishops Move, pickfords, ship it. There are loads, you could do a search on the net and find lots. If you want to ship by sea, its going to take about 10- 12 weeks. thats average from what all the co have told me. they base the price on volume, normally in cubic foot. Im not really sure about price, my shipment is a bit bigger so couldnt really guess on a price. to ship 250 cu ft its about £1300- £1400. most of the co have an online form which you can fill out and they will do an estimate for you. i hope this helps a bit. i also gather that most co will pack for you, something to do with the insurance and also it helps with going through customs. i think you can pack your own stuff but it can cause problems. im certain they will collect if you want, its all part of the service. You can also play them off for price doing this.Remember cheapest isnt always best when they are in charge of your wordly possessions. We shipped 18 boxes with Crown a couple of years ago and they were fantastic, we then sent another half a dozen boxes with them a few months later and still recieved excellent service. Another thing to take into consideration is if the company uses a sub contractor at this end and if so who that company is, as lots of problems seem to arise with the contractor rather than the main shipper, i think its called ''passing the book'' if something does go wrong. Hope this helps a little Cal x
