Guest jpearse
Hi Denise, My husband is a building automation engineer/project manager. He was in contact with a company is Oz and they sounded really positive about him getting a job with them and the sponsorship etc but they have now said that they can't find a suitably high level of job for him at the moment. I was wondering if you would be able to help at all in letting us know which companies to contact for this type of work and whether they are happy to sponsor overseas employees. I think a lot of the jobs come under the heading of HVAC (heating and ventilation and air conditioning) but not too sure! Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks Jess

We are currently waiting for our visa (STNI from Victoria) and are hoping to settle in Melbourne early next year (08) Thanks Amanda
Guest Lesley Mac
Hi Denise, My wife is currently going through the whole application process so we can come over to Oz hopefully some time in 08. I would appreciate it if you could look at my CV and advise where the best place would be for my skill sets. I currently work in Logistics / Supply chain management in the Automotive industry. I will send a copy of my CV to your e-mail address, if you could look out for it and let me know your thoughts I would appreciate it. Many thanks, Norman
bongomark
Hi Denise, I think you may have made yourself quite busy with all the enquiries on here, but I'm hoping you might be able to help me/give me some advice. I'm currently working as a Business Development Manager (for a lithographic print company), and previously worked in Media Sales (Newspaper) as a Senior Sales Executive. Are there any ways in for me this way? I'm looking to move to Australia as soon as possible really, certainly within the next couple of years. I'm 28, so as a last resort I could go on a working holiday visa and try and get sponsorship but am concerned how difficult that will be? I would also definately retrain, either in the UK or in Australia to enable me to get permanent residency. I hope you can help, many thanks, Mark
Guest Denise Cole
Hi Mark, Thanks for your message, yes its great that I am getting such a good response. In answer to your questions; Good sales people are in demand here, but one thing that does get highlighted when discussing recruiting from overseas, is that they don't have 'local' knowledge. I would certainly recommend you to take up the working holiday visa while you can. This will give you a year in Oz where you will be able to gain local experience and knowledge (certainly a plus in a sales environmemt). You will also be able to get face time with employers/consultants... again something that is very favourable in a sales arena. and being able to work for an employer for up to 6 months will also give them the opportunitiy of trialing you before they take on your 457 visa. Hope this helps, feel free to ask any further questions and if you would like to send me a copy of your resume you can get me on dcole@tannermenzies.com Best of luck D
