If you have had a CV verified, the sponsorship application must be lodged and receipted before 30 June 2009. On 30 June 2009 the 2008/09 ACT skills list will close. Applications for ACT Government sponsorship of all occupations, including quota occupations, will not be accepted after this date. Applications received after 30/06/09 will be held over and assessed against the new sponsorship criteria and ACT Skills in Demand list to be published on 1 August. 1 August 2009. We will reopen the 2009/10 quota and start accepting sponsorship applications again when the new 2009/10 ACT Skills in Demand list is published on 1 August 2009. Am I being too cynical, or is this proof that the minister's changes (in Jan and Mar) and the introduction of priority processing - without discussing it with the States first - has failed. Every one on here forecast that the States would be inundated with applications and would not be able to cope with the massive increase of workload. Is this not proof that the Minister (and this Govt) are making ridiculous, knee-jerk decisions, without sufficient thought and consideration for all parties concerned? Guest Gollywobbler
Hi Ladies Thanks very much for the info, Veronika. I do recall that at the start of this "gold rush" with everyone seeking State sponsorship, George Lombard warned that the ACT is not a very big place so it would not be looking for thousands of new migrants suddenly. George should know - he was born in Canberra, brought up there and then worked there for a number of years before moving to Sydney. It will be interesting to see what the other States & Territories do since all the others on the mainland are far bigger in terms of size and have larger populations plus more room to expand. ( I don't know whether the ACT and Tasmania are comparable in size.) Cheers Gill
