SOMV
Queensland has updated its lists of occupations and has now released information about sponsorships for off-the list occupations. Here is the relevant link: Queensland eligible skills (Apologies if this has already been posted about, but I haven't spotted anything.) Cheers, Veronika

Bosh
SOMV - Thanks for this. It looks like my occupation has just been added. Perhaps this means that we can head for Brisbane now instead of Canberra !

Guest paul n kath
can i ask what the difference is between skilled regional and skilled sponsored? as in 176 ad 475 etc?
Guest Gollywobbler
Hi Paul n Kath The Skilled Sponsored 176 visa gives immediate permanent residency in Oz. The SRS 475 visa is a provisional visa only, though it provides a stepping stone towards PR. Best wishes Gill

Guest Gollywobbler
hi all, have just seen this and have emailed veronika direct but just wondering if my brothers skills as an electronics test engineer will enable him to apply for a skilled sponsorship visathanks lynne Hi Lynne A-Z Occupations List - Australian Skills Recognition Information Please ask Bro to decide which of the Electronics people he is, based on the list above. He might need to look at the whole ASRI list if his actual occupation is called something else in Strine: A-Z Occupations List - Australian Skills Recognition Information The job descriptions in the ASRI list are truncated. If Bro types the Code number into the search box on the ABS website he can get a more detailed description of the occupation: Australian Bureau of Statistics Plus tell him to click on the website for the relevant skills assessment authority and have a good look at what that says. For instance if he is a full-blown Electronics Engineer than the skills assessment authority is Engieers Australia so he needs to look at their website and see what they require.
