We have been living in Perth for the last 2 years and have decided to visit Melbourne with the intention to move there. The problem is all our family are in perth and we don't know a soul in victoria .So if any one out there knows area's where brits move to then atleast we will be in the same boat with other people. Thanks

They are everywhere really depending on where they are working. Melbourne is such a huge area that settlement often follows work.

The Mornington Peninsula is popular and always has been originally settled by Scot people. You would be hard pushed to find a person without some Brit in their ancestry in and around Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. Knox is another place where a lot settle. Point Cook is becoming popular as is Geelong. Geelong is a city outside of Melbourne

If you join the Britvic site you will get to know a few people who live in Melbourne and where they live and they have meetups regularly so that may be your first stop.

Hi Bob,

There are a few of us PIOs who live in and around the Geelong area - If you're down here any time on a recce, let us know and we can arrange a bit of a get together.. sure the others will be just as happy to organise something..

Hi Bob

Welcome to PIO. I think you will find fellow poms where ever you live in Melbourne. Some of the popular areas are like Petals mentioned, Mornington. Other areas are Berwick, Lynbrook, Cranbourne, Geelong, Point Cook and many more.

Do you have the Britvic website please? I would like to have a look & see if we can meet some new friends.

Thanks Jaq

Depends what your budget is ?

My personal advice is stay in the east and as close to the city as you can afford. The West and North has some very clean new housing at more affordable pricing this seems to be popular with many PIO members

Hello there,

We live in Berwick and love it we have ffriends that live here too and a couple in Narre Warren South. Really depends where you will be working and how far from the city you want to be. Mornington is lovely but miles from the city. We origionally looked at point cook, sanctuary lakes and werribee, but hubbys job was in the South East, so Berwick was our choice, closly followed by beaconsfield. Hope that helps a bit. Ang x
