calNgary
Gold Coast Airport are starting flights sometimes this year for $575 flying to London via Kuala Lumpa. I dont know who the airline is etc but if it flys to London it has to fly back, may be worth checking out if anyone is headed for QLD. Cal x p.s , forgot to say , flights are already on sale even though they havnt started flying that route yet.
Guest proud2beaussie
If you REALLY want to fly from the UK to OZ on the cheap you can fly with Air Asia Express (https://booking.airasia.com/skylights/cgi-bin/skylights.cgi) for about £400.00 BUT! they fly from Stansted to Kuala Lumpur with a stopover of a few hours then the fly to Gold Coast,Melbourne and Perth, they are planning on direct flights to Australia later this year. But they currently use small Boeings (737's and 767's) for the KL flights, they have poor legroom,no confirmed seats (first in ,best dressed)charge you for checked baggage and food,no in flight entertainment, they are basically a glorified bus company. But they are cheap and there is no fuel surcharge,so if cost is a factor go for it. The other thing is because they are cheap it's often hard to get a seat for the day you want so you may have to be flexible about when you fly. As for me,I'd rather save a bit longer and fly with a full service airline. BTW -Air Asia is the one referred to in calNgary's post above. Edited to add ,this is a better link: http://www.airasia.com/site/gb/en/home.jsp And this is an example of what a trip from Stansted to OOL (Coolangatta) is like in terms of times. D7 2007 STN KUL 17:30 14:30 D7 2702 KUL OOL 21:25 07:25 Note the 7 hour stopover in KL before the onward flight.
