Guest bilby Posted December 11, 2008 Share Posted December 11, 2008 Many of the Amateur football clubs in Perth have sponsors who can assist members and their families with various things. The clubs depend on these sponsors for their very survival. Often these club sponsors can be very useful for helping new migrants in getting finance, buying homes, renting homes and even getting employment. At Ballajura AFC we have Mortgage Choice - a Home Loan specialist - as our major sponsor. The Principal, Rose De Rossi, has been a strong supporter of both juniors and seniors football at the club and has helped members with mortgage applications etc. Rose is currently assisting my own daughter in a home loan application. Ballajura is a family oriented football club with teams of all ages from under 8's to adult Senior Amateurs (male), a ladies team and indeed a Masters team for those who just can't retire ! The club has and Irish / UK / Australian tradition but nowadays also has players from many different cultures, especially among the Juniors. The Senior Amateur side is made up of a mixture of talented local lads with Irish / UK heritage and a number of ex semi pro "imports" from the UK and Ireland. Last season they won promotion to Amateur Division 1 and we are looking forward to another big year in 2009. As Senior Coach I am tasked with developing the club at the senior level and bringing it forward to Amateur Premier League status. Bringing in talented and experienced players from the UK / Ireland has been a very successful tactic for me and we have ended up with a great squad of lads who all play good football and all get on well together both on and off the pitch. In fact, we have a big night out planned at the Moon and Sixpence this coming Saturday. Recently we started up an under 18's side and this will compete for the first time in 2009. We are also encouraging families with new arrivals in that age group to contact us. Ballajura AFC is definitely a club with a future and this is the time to join. We would love to hear from interested players and anyone interested in joining the club.
