Guest ltjchicklet
:sleepyxmas:So right now we are waiting for the nomination approval number from immigration so we can get started on our e457 visa. Should be another day or so before we can begin. My husband is the one being sponsered. I am American so obviously I don't need to prove my English skills, but he is Brazilian... all his work experience (8 years vinyl layer) is from the USA as well. He spoke perfect English everyday on the job... and we even got his last employer to verify his English skills in the reference letter to immigration. Has anyone had experience with this? Do you think he'll still need to take the test of he can obviously back up the fact that his English is functional? Anyone on here ever provide enough proof to not have to take the test? (It's expensive!)
Guest dan&nikki
does he have enough points to qualify for a visa without doing the test? he may need to take the IELTS test in order to gain more points...my hubby had to do the test and he is english born and bred..its only £100 (i say 'only' in the sense that the whole visa process has cost us just shy of £8k,....so £100 is nothing! lol)
The Ozcans
Hi there, I think people take the test to mainly get extra points so I don`t know if you need points for that visa? Sorry not much help am I!! Does he think he needs it cos he has a different( ie.not English speaking )nationality?
Guest ltjchicklet
457 visa is not based on points, you just have to prove that you have a level equivalent to a 4.5 band score on the IELTS test. So I'm wondering if written proof from his last employer (who he spoke English for as this was in the US) would convince them of his English ability..... Please see this link: Skilled Workers Temporary Visa Options - Employer Sponsored Workers - Workers - Visas & Immigration They obviously could insist that Hubby takes the IELTS. Hopefully, though, they would take into account that Hubby is married to a native English speaker etc. That said, though, why are you risking the 457 visa when Hubby does not have a positive trade skill assessment? What is your Reserve Plan if his prospective employer lays him off either before or after you move out to Oz? Would it be possible for Hubby to sit for the AQF III pretty smartly after he gets to Australia, enabling you to apply for skilled independent permanent migration to Oz in your own right? Have you contacted the Master Builders Association in QLD to find out about this? Floor Finisher 4423-11 - Australian Skills Recognition Information If the MBA cannot help, please see this thread: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/41294-got-my-aqf-level-3-certificate-yes.html It seems to me that either the MBA or the TFIA should be able to assess Hubby for the AQF III? Best wishes Gill PS - You seem to have a large number of queries about the whole process, many of them because Hubby is Brazilian. I think that in your shoes I would phone either Cheryl Bird, or Sarah White, or both. Both ladies are Brisbane based Registered Migration Agents. Cheryl's website is here: http://www.ozmigrationagency.com.au/ Sarah White works for Go Matilda: http://www.gomatilda.com/contact.cfm#ourpeople'>http://www.gomatilda.com/contact.cfm#ourpeople http://www.gomatilda.com/contact.cfm In your shoes, I'd be inclined to run your questions past the ladies and see whether it is likely to prove to be a protracted application.
