Where to find Expats in Melbourne?

Hi all, I have a bit of a dilema and I thought members of this sit could help me out.

Another couple, along with my good wife and I run a monthly dance that plays nothing but Soul, Motown and Northern Soul music.

We are just a couple of enthusiasts and the club is totally non profit with all funds ($5 per head) going into paying for our venue and providing prizes for our members.

As you may imagine the majority of our members are 'old Mods' and other Expat British (this is a very good thing!) as are 3 of us.

We are currently trying to get the word out and this is where I have the dilema.

Can anyone tell me of any Expat or UK clubs/associations in Melbourne as we are sure we would be able to locate some more interested parties in them should they exist.

If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and by the way if any one is interested you can check our our web site at www.melbournesoulclub.com

Hope this post isn't too forward, but we honestly are looking to let more expats know about our venue.

All the best to everyone over the Christmas period.

Cheers

Guys, thanks for the reply. Your in luck, one of our DJ's is the President of the Lambretta Club here in Melbourne and he will hook you up with loads of 'Modern Mods... Don't leave the bike behind, trust me a good one is worth thousands out here. (Actually bring a couple with you and it'll pay for yor fare..ha ha! ) Everything you need to know about the club is on the web site, dates, Newsletters, location everything. If you need anything more, whether it be in relation to the club or anything else you would like to ask before heading over send me a quick email me at madpom@bigpond.net.au

All the best

Hi thanks for the link will definitely meet up when we are settled. We hear there are many ex pats in Berwick so may be worth sending a flyer to the local pub there it may attract some interest.

Not sure if I could handle an all nighter..ha ha! Mate I've been here nearly all my life, brought over by my folks as 10 pound poms in 66. Funny its cost a bit more than that to set up..ha ha

You mention 'Blackburn's Soul do's" Not aware of this one, do you have any details you could pass on? I presume you mean the Blackburn in Melbourne? I'm very new to the Soul scene but on a fast learning curve. As much as anything I enjoy the company of those that attend our nights. You should get over and say G'Day. Cheers

Phew...for a moment I thought we had some local competition? Blackburn UK might be a little difficult for me to get over for the night..ha ha Problem is nearly every suburb in Melbourne is named after a U.K tow. Blackburn and Preston are both prime examples. 6 p.m Saturdayyour time is about 4 a.m over here! I'm going to have to be keen. I might just record it..ha ha

Thanks for the post, and a Merry Christmas to you and yours.
