Multimedia Specialist assessing my options

Hello Poms in Oz,

I'd be grateful for any comment or advice on my current situation.

Here are the key details:

  1. I have been in Australia since 2018.
  2. I have secured a positive skills assessment for Multimedia Specialist in 2023 which is currently the occupation I am looking to obtain a 189 or 190 visa under (my background is Graphic Designer)
  3. I have had a migration lawyer since 2022 but would like further ideas
  4. I currently hold a subclass 408 visa (commonly known as the COVID-visa), set to expire in March 2025.
  5. My current Graphic Designer job isn't sponsored. Once my COVID-visa expires, I will most likely lose this job if I cannot find another way of working legally
  6. Whilst I have been working as a Graphic Designer I have also held a second job in hospitality, which has uncovered a hidden talent in me for customer service which I am good at. I am open to exploring options to use this for PR.
  7. I am open to further study in Australia, with a potential budget of $40k for a master's program if it can significantly improve my PR prospects.

Here are my questions:

  1. I am currently effectively due to leave Australia next year unless I secure another visa. How likely can I a Multimedia Manager / Graphic Designer position that will temporarily sponsor me?
  2. Based on the above, would either pivoting toward customer service, or taking on a masters, position me more favourably for PR?
  3. If I cannot secure a Multimedia Manager / Graphic Designer position that sponsors me past March 2025, what kind of steps can I take to stay in the country?

Thank you in advance for your valuable input!

That's unrealistic, because you will need to first get a recognised qualification and then gain work experience (work experience gained before you get the qualification won't count).  That would be an extremely long-term plan and unlikely to succeed.

If you already have a migration lawyer, the agents on this forum will not advise you because it is against their professional ethics.

If your adviser is a migration lawyer and not a MARA-registered migration agent, then I would strongly recommend you do sack him, because you don't need a lawyer right now. You need an agent.

You don't need a sponsor to apply for a 190 visa. You just apply.  Why don't you do that?
