LostInCuba
Has anyone gone from a Work and Holiday(462) or Working Holiday(417) to a 491 visa? I am thinking of going to South Australia and relief teaching on a 462 visa and then after about 6 months apply for the 491 visa. Has anyone had any success going from a Working Holiday visa to a more permanent visa option such as the 491? In case anyone is wondering, I have a master's degree in teaching and 3 years of teaching experience in the United States. Thank you for any assistance. Raul Senise
Although possible, be mindful that you can not just apply for a 491 visa, as the visa is by invitation only.
Marisawright
Yes, it can be done, IF you have all the required qualifications and experience before you arrive. A one-off consultation with a migration agent (can be online) would be worth it, to make absolutely sure you meet all the requirements. The main thing will be to verify that your American teaching qualification is acceptable. What's required for visa purposes and what's required for teaching purposes aren't necessarily the same thing.
