Canmac
Hi all, I have a 408 working visa that expires in January but I want to terminate it sooner as I’m applying for my partner visa and would like to move to a bridging one to allow me to apply for other jobs freely. Any advice for ending my 408 visa early so my bridging partner visa can go into effect? Alternatively, If that’s not an option, what would happen if my job terminated my employment agreement to free me up? What happens if the employment is terminated before the expiration of the corresponding visa? Would I be free then? Thanks!
Marisawright
You can’t get a bridging visa unless you hold a visa to bridge from
Canmac
I have a work visa and I can file my partner visa but the bridging visa won’t take effect until my current visa expires. But what if the work visa is cancelled or the job is terminated before this expiry date?

rammygirl
As marissa says the bridging visa is dependent on your current visa, cancel that and the bridging visa disappears. There may be another strategy but you need to speak to a registered agent for advice. Get it wrong and you could be in a real mess.
