Drop Bear
Hi - My partner is a US Citizen holding Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering and is currently working in US. We are looking for options for her to move to Australia however, are confused with what options we have. We thought we might be able to get some guidance on the forums before we reach out to a migration agent. Her total points sum up to be 75 right now as she is 25 years old and has 2 years of work experience. We thought we might apply for 189 skilled independent visa however, it seems like the cut off is 95 points? I am on a bridging visa until I receive outcome of my 186 visa. We will appreciate if someone can provide their recommendations.
Marisawright
Unless she's in a priority occupation, work visas are not an option right now, because offshore applications are not even being looked at.
Marisawright
....and yes, the cutoff for a 189 visa was over 90 points, even before Covid. With the huge backlog of applications now in the queue, that's only going to get worse. https://iscah.com/will-get-189-invite-updated-predictions/ If her occupation is on the Priority list (or she can get a job in a priority industry), then points go out the window, so it's well worth checking if she woud qualify. VERYSTORMY
If she is your partner have you not included her in your 186 application?
