JohnDoug
Hi all, My partner has to do the PTE test and was wondering if we would have to get a high score. My partner is not claiming any points as I am the main applicant and have already submitted our application for a state sponsored 190 NSW visa. As with any test will try for as high a score as possible but just need to know what level is good enough so we don't book another test unnecessarily should we not get all section above 79+ score. Probably been answered in numerous other posts, but if you are not claiming points for partner, then no need for a skills assessment for partner. Therefore, as seen on the homeaffairs website (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/english-language/competent-english) To prove you have competent English, show us evidence that: you are a citizen of and hold a valid passport issued by the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland or in the 3 years before you applied for the visa, you scored one of the following: Test Score International English Language Testing System (IELTS) At least 6 for each of the 4 components Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT) At least 12 for listening, 13 for reading, 21 for writing and 18 for speaking Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) At least 50 for each of the 4 components Occupational English Test (OET) At least B for each of the 4 components Cambridge C1 Advanced test At least 169 in each of the 4 components
lamngoc
Hi, Jenki75 gave the correct link, but for spouse not claiming points, we only need "functional", not "competent" level of English (in one of the questions when you lodge the visa, they ask if spouse has "functional" English). So meaning PTE 30 only. Edited March 20, 2019 by lamngoc
