Visa Granted But Medical Issue Has Arisen

Hi all,

I applied for a partner visa on the 14 March 2017 and this was granted on the 09. May 2017 with the stipulation that I must make first entry to Australia before 26 April 2018.

Recently I was having a small procedure in hospital and the doctor found a large mass in my lower abdomen. This may be a fibroid but it will require further investigation/treatment and I have been referred to a gynaecologist and I am waiting an appointment.

So should I inform the Australian authorities of this now? I am concerned that if I do require treatment this may affect the date I need to have entered Australia by. I am worried that my visa  may be withdrawn as I could be viewed potentially as a risk in the future to be a drain on Australian medical resources. But I also want to be upfront with the Australian authorities.

Has anyone else had this experience or know if the first entry date can be extended due to  circumstances?

Many thanks X

I am not aware your first entry date can be extended. I can't recall reading of it tbh.

*Edited to remove paragraph as Quoll found the correct info re informing immigration* :)

ETA - If you are really unsure about what happens next or how best to proceed before you notify them or the possible outcomes, perhaps check with an agent?
