  1. Hi all, I applied for a partner visa on the 14 March 2017 and this was granted on the 09. May 2017 with the stipulation that I must make first entry to Australia before 26 April 2018. Recently I was having a small procedure in hospital and the doctor found a large mass in my lower abdomen. This may be a fibroid but it will require further investigation/treatment and I have been referred to a gynaecologist and I am waiting an appointment. So should I inform the Australian authorities of this now? I am concerned that if I do require treatment this may affect the date I need to have entered Australia by. I am worried that my visa may be withdrawn as I could be viewed potentially as a risk in the future to be a drain on Australian medical resources. But I also want to be upfront with the Australian authorities. Has anyone else had this experience or know if the first entry date can be extended due to circumstances? Many thanks X
  2. Thank you all so much for your comments and information. My wife has asked if as she would be my sponsor what requirements does that entail? She is concerned as she will be with me coming from the UK that she won't be working straight away and won't have a job lined up that this will affect the visa application? if anyone needs help with Australian type thingos my wife is more than willing to advise X
  3. Hi everyone I am currently in UK living with my Australian wife. We have been together for over 4 years and married for two. I should point out we are in a gay relationship. Now my wife is very home sick so we are planning to move to Oz in 2017 but the visa is getting us very confused. As Australia does not recognise gay marriage yet we are looking at the partner 309/100 visa but we thought we could apply within Australia but it states you must apply outside. Is this the right visa as I want to work in Australia. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any advice would be greatfully received.
  4. Hi All My Australian partner is coming to live with me in the UK travelling from Melbourne. We are planning on being together in the UK for just over a year before we both move back to Oz. Now we are quite surprised at the difference in the cost of flights. It's cheaper to fly from UK to Oz rather than Oz to UK. I have tried booking ticket in UK with starting destination in Oz but the website automatically changes the currency to Australian dollars. We did think of maybe buying a ticket from UK to Oz and not using the outward ticket and my partner using the return ticket but we are concerned as obviously there will be no record of anyone entering Oz. Has anyone got ideas on how to get around this and save money? Many thanks in advance.
  5. Hello All I am new to this forum after lurking for a while and have found information given very useful. However I am in a complete befuddle. I am 40 years old and currently work as a Housing Officer in Social Housing in the UK, last October 2011 I started talking to a Melbourne resident online which developed into a relationship talking twice a day and she visited me and I have visited her and we have now decided that we want to make a life together, I should point out we are in a same sex relationship. The Melbourne resident does not want to live in the UK and also cannot leave her Mother in Oz as she is becoming infirm and needs assistance. I am prepared to go to Oz as I believe we should be together and I do love her but looking at the SOL list my job is not listed. I dont think I would be given a partner visa as we have not been together as in physically in the same country for 12 months so I am stuck. Anybody else been in a situation like this? Any info would be gratefully received.
