Cerberus1
Hi, Various UK banks & building societies have off-shore divisions which offer expat mortgages / remortgages / buy to let etc. Skipton do - https://www.skiptoninternational.com/mortgages/expat along with HSBC and others. If you're trying to find a lendor that will handle both remortgaging a house in Scotland and buying a house in Australia you're wasting your time. Even with HSBC it would be two completely separate transactions that just happen to have the same four initials on them. You need to first find a UK lendor that will remortgage a property for someone that doesn't live in the UK. Not an easy task. Skipton International (as mentioned by Cerberus) is one of the few that will do this. You can then put the funds raised into an Australian bank account and go courting Australian lendors. An Australian broker may be help with finding you a mortgage for your Australian house but won't be able to help with remortgaging a UK property (in theory a UK broker may be help with the remortgaging but in reality most won't know what to do with a client from outside the UK). JoeyJ
Hi, wondering if you had any luck finding anyone who can help? We are in the same situation - trying to sell our house in the UK but no luck. Need to release some funds to be able to use as a deposit but not sure where to start. Thanks Jo
leeeekiat
Hi Just remortgage your UK house with any UK bank to release equity, then apply for a mortgage with an Australian bank when you have the deposit? Unless i am missing something here..

Only that UK banks won't give mortgages to people who live in Australia (with perhaps the exception of a few expat banks - usually offshore in the Channel Islands or similar). Hi Ken, thanks. I was looking for a uk bank to help with the uk house remorgaging and then once funds released find an aussie bank to get a moprgage with. The trouble is u have to be resident for the remorgaging to happen in the uk..Skipton suggested Bank of China, however they can;t help either. Looks like its a no go for a deposit through remorgaging.
