Defacto dilemma

Hi there everyone, I've only used this site a few times before but found it incredibly helpful. I'm currently in Australia and I'm just about to lodge my defacto visa application, i'm just waiting for my U.K police cert. to arrive. As it will be fully front loaded, i''ve tried to arranage an interview in Brisbane in the hope that if all goes according to plan, I may get the temporary visa that day. Unfortunately, I can't get an interview until July 21, and I was trying to decide whether to wait until then or cancel the interview and send the application in by post. After waiting so long to get it all organised, it seems a shame for it to sit on my desk for a month until I can lodge it in person. I'm really just wondering which method is likely to prove the quickest.
