  1. Hi Dave, we have just arrived in Brisbane and are expecting our container in the next week, we used PSS and took advantage of the “Free” 25kg box to the airport. In theory it is a good idea, but for us it was nothing but hassle! Customs and Quarantine costs were high (approx $150) it was a stress having to get out to the airport with no car to pick it up. If you plan it better than us and send some really important items and pay to get them delivered, then it could be helpful. Can’t help but see it as an “added value” freebie used as a sales tool. Hope this helps. Tom
  2. Thanks for that Scottydog, fingers crossed that yours will be dealt with as quickly. I looked online and for April they said that 70% of applications were done within 40 days which I thought was good enough, so very suprised to see the email. Just need to see that visa in the passport for real! All the best

    Spouse visa

Well, we can't believe it! My Aussie missus only did her biometrics and sent her visa application a week ago and yesterday she received that email that says that the visa has been dispatched and the passport to follow! Don't want to get too excited but after a long time waiting it seems that the move in September is on for certain, can't wait! Nearly everything sold and boxes shipped, passports to do and a couple of sunny months in North Queensland to enjoy!
  4. Thanks for that MamaPesa, We already use the Commonwealth so hopefully it'll be fairly sraightforward to make enquiries! I've also contacted the dvla and have arranged for them to send the paperwork to our address in the u.k! As the move is getting closer, things are coming to my attention in the middle of the night! Do you know an easy way of explaining the child care benefits and tax credit system? It all looks extremely complicated on the websites! Cheers, Tom
  5. Hi guys, Am I right in thinking that my Aussie wife will be ok to drive in the u.k with get Queensland licence, but only for a year after which she will have to do all the tests etc to obtain a uk licence? Or can she swap her licence for a uk one? Also, how easy or difficult is it for her to get her national insurance number? And how long might it take? Cheers, Tom
  6. Hi all, I am hoping that as I have several existing bank accounts still in the uk, I will be able to add my Aussie wife to them to create joint accounts without having to start from scratch. Does anyone know if this will be possible or not? Cheers, Tom
  7. Hi there, Does anyone know whether my wife will need to have a return flight on entry to the U.K on a spousal setlement visa? I'm thinking and hoping that she doesn't, just wanted to know if anyone could tell me from experience? Cheers, Tom
  8. Hi Gailus, thanks for the information. We are planning on going around early September and we are making progress, supporting docs are adding up and fingers crossed it should be fairly straight forward! Our boxes left for the U.K this week and it's now becoming very real, can't wait! Cheers Tom
  9. Hi Gailus, Fingers crossed for you that it'll come through for you soon. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know when you have news, and if you would share with me what documents you submitted that would be great. We are in the process of gathering these documents together now, just waiting for a couple more. Could you also just run me through the order in which you submitted your application with regard to the payment, biometric thingy etc? Cheers, Tom
  10. Hi Gailus, that sounds like good need for you. My wife and I are preparing to submit her application, just wondering how long yours took? Cheers, Tom
  11. Hi all, My family and I are moving back to the U.k in September, and we are putting the finishing touchs to my wife's visa application. We have just had our second child and need to apply for his passport, but it will be a few weeks before we get his passport to add to my wife's visa application and we really don't want to have to wait as the visa could take a while. The children are not part of my wife's visa application as they will have both passports, just wondering how serious it will be if we apply for the visa without our son's passport info. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
  12. Hi Aussie in the UK Thanks for your reply, it's reassuring to hear that you managed in a similar situation. We'll try and include as much evidence as possible and keep our fingers crossed. How long did it take for your visa to be granted? Cheers, Tom
  13. My aussie wife and I are heading back to rutland in September and we're about to apply for her visa. I am concerned about how to prove the maintenance as we don't have much in the way of savings, we both work and always have done so our bank accounts will show this. We both have good job prospects and we do own a house in the U.K outright which we will be moving into, so i'm hoping that will be good enough. Any other suggestions would be welcome, Cheers, Tom
  14. Hi guys, I've been doing some research into removal companies for our move back to the U.K in September. We are planning on only taking a dozen or so Tea Chest boxes of personal effects. I have a reasonable quote but am not quite sure what the tax and duty relief is and whether we will be eligible and if not how much might it be? Cheers, Tom
  15. Hi Quoll, No such luck with the ancestry, so it's the spousal visa for us. Hope it's as straightforward as mine was for Oz, Cheers, Tom
