fossda
Hi Dont know how to put a link in but if you google Qld nursing pay rates it will come up with the current (2015) pay rates that will cover Cairns. It depends if she secured a Clinical Midwife position or a Registered Midwife position. Clinical is like band 6 in the UK. I was band 6 in the Uk but had change of direction here and now a Registered Nurse but still well paid. Qld health also counted my years post qualification from the UK in adjusting which part of the scale they paid me. Good Luck
SUPERSTARDJ01
She would deffo want to stay a midwife, what are the working hours? Here she works ridiculous hours and paid peanuts looks like she could get upto $84000 p/y but I think that's doubtful
Skani
This may be useful in giving an idea of the range over all levels of experience: http://www.payscale.com/research/AU/Job=Midwife/Salary
xxlornaxx
Clinical nurse (band 6) salary start around 83000 a year but the qld health pay scale will tell you exactly...I was registered nurse band 5 in uk and came to band 6 here
wattsy1982
My wife is Midwife here (QLD) and she works 60 hours a fortnight, a mixture of 12hr days and nights, weekends etc and she takes home about $2000-$2200 per fortnight. Before even thinking about making the move get in touch with AHPRA as the waiting/processing time is just ridiculous. My wife finds the work here no easier and she actually misses the level of personal care/bedside manner she was able to give in the UK v the 'conveyor belt' process here.
